9/21/2011 | | "Historic Charm of the Pacific Northwest", An Eventective User from Spokane, Washington | | Experience pacific northwest history for you and your guests at the E.J. Roberts Mansion in Spokane, WA. My wife and I were recently wed at this venue, and it was a truly magical experience. Before the ceremony, my groomsmen and I relaxed downstairs in the "bootlegger's room," a hidden room dating back to the prohibition days situated in the basement, where we enjoyed 12 year-old scotch and shot pool til it was time to get hitched. The mansion features a large, open lawn area that was perfect for both the ceremony and reception, and the centuries-old oak tree in the middle of it provided plenty of shade from the hot summer afternoon. As the sun went down, hanging lanterns dangling from the branches of the tree provided light for the party, creating an atmosphere that was both romantic and relaxing at the same time. After the ceremony, we slipped away to the "secret garden" where we were allowed to spend our first few moments alone as man and wife. The garden was serene, set apart by a high brick wall and furnished with the sights and smells of carefully tended flowers and trees, and we couldn't help but feel overwhelmed by the beauty of the entire place. For our wedding night, we stayed in the mansion's historical bridal suite, lavishly furnished with elegant antique furniture and a private bathroom. We enjoyed champagne in the large bathtub, and spent the night in the extremely fine and comfortable king size bed. The next morning we were served an amazingly delicious breakfast of fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, and pecan roasted french toast. We took our coffee upstairs, to enjoy it on the balcony overlooking the flower gardens, and took in the late summer air. The staff was incredibly accommodating, and at the end of the entire experience, I felt more as if we had made life-long friends than merely rented a venue for the day. The prices were more than reasonable, and we will surely be returning again. It is most definitely worth a visit. |
