We used the Millennium UN Plaza Hotel for a high level event requiring security during the 2010 United Nations Millennium Development Goals Summit. The hotel was accommodating all of our meeting needs. We needed full service, day-of coordination in addition to the advance work. We utilized catering and their partnership with an onsite audio/visual provider. We needed and appreciated their ability to get our vendors in and out of the security barrier. They also kindly accepted a slew of packages in the days leading up to the event, and kept them in personal offices for us until we arrived in New York. We also were provided a lovely suite for the day of to use as a home base. Despite a few small issues with the suite we were provided (for which we were monetarily compensated), the place was great. We were provided with cell phone numbers for our key contact people , in security and audio/visual, the most likely to need day-of attention , and found the staff available and responsive. While working the event, the catering staff also made sure that those of us staffing the event were well fed and watered, setting aside both food and drinks, as well as providing us seats when we most needed them. While this was not the purpose of our visit, the view from our suite where we were holding small meetings was stellar. The two level suite was loaded with windows overlooking the United Nations building, the river, and back into the city. It provided a breathtaking backdrop for our guests and meeting participants. Again, accommodating staff, excellent and knowledgeable catering, A/V, and most importantly, security.
I attended a business meeting at the Millennium Hotel UN Plaza last month. It was a great experience and the location exceeded my expectations. Over the two day meeting, the lobby staff was consistently friendly, attentive and helpful. They went over and beyond in assisting with food recommendations for our large group. The lobby was nice and seems consistent with the world-class reputation of the United Nations. The location was ideal as it was train accessible, in Midtown Manhattan and right beside the UN building. During the meeting, I found the restrooms to be conveniently located and were remarkably easy to find. There was also ample bottled water on our tables throughout the day. At one point, our room was too cold. Shortly after making a complaint to the staff, the temperature was quickly adjusted for everyone's comfort. The conference room was located close to the lobby, but was far enough from the entrance to provide a quiet and secluded environment for our meeting. Overall, I was quite impressed and pleased with this meeting space.
