I popped into Langdon Florist one rainy evening in April in need of a quick but impressive bouquet to bring to a Passover seder. The shop was charming and tidy, well-stocked even near the day's end, filled with lovely plants and with a large case of refrigerated flowers in plain view. I could tell they were swamped - the phone was ringing off the hook, and customers were whizzing in and out to pick up orders, yet a friendly male florist offered to help. I described what I was looking for (a short bouquet that was very sweet and feminine), gave him my price range, and less than ten minutes later, he emerged with a masterpiece. It was priced at the lower end of what I'd hoped to spend, and he offered some ways to increase the drama by adding some more rare flowers. The bouquet was a huge hit with my hostess, the flowers stayed fresh for over a week, and I made sure to slip the business's card into my boyfriend's coat pocket - he works nearby, and hopefully will be dropping by again on his own! Small business charm in an age of online ordering. I'd recommend them to anyone living or working downtown who wanted great service and a high quality product.
