"Hidden Gem in the Crossroads District", An Eventective User from Kansas City
We used the New Life Event space to hold our wedding ceremony 9/17/11. This space was ideal for our needs. New Life has 2 parking lots available for guests (which is key in this area--so many other venues only had a few spots available, or street parking) and has a wonderful setup for weddings. Located on the 4th floor of a historic building, this venue is gorgeous with a loft vibe and amazing floor to ceiling windows that allow for great light and views of the area. If you are looking for an urban feel for your wedding--this space is fantastic. From a logistical standpoint, it’s laid out extremely well for a wedding. The church’s classrooms/nursery are perfect for getting ready and have an entrance into the sanctuary which is hidden for the bride’s arrival. For the guests, it is also laid out nicely. Once getting off the elevator, there is an area for guest book and a long hallway leading into the sanctuary that works nicely for a receiving line. The "flow" was just perfect. The best thing was the event staff --Deann was fabulous to work with. She was not only incredibly accommodating, but had a wonderful calm presence and really helped us direct the day’s events smoothly. Having been involved with many other weddings, she was TOP NOTCH and was a wonderful asset! Her husband ran sound (you can have live music, but we just used iPod and it turned out great). They also have a big flat screen if you want to show a video/slideshow both in the sanctuary and hallway. For full disclosure--there is a big pillar in the middle of the "aisle" that I thought might possibly be an issue. But we were able to work with it and it didn't really affect our wedding at all. I would still use this space without hesitation!!! They will work their hardest to help you have a great event, and I would very highly recommend this space to anyone wanting a downtown/urban feel to their wedding. Great facility, great people and a hidden gem in the Crossroads!
