What a Great Event!, Auburn — Since 2008, the Lewiston & Auburn school systems have been part of a federal Safe Schools/Healthy Students Initiative designed to prevent violence and substance abuse among our nation's youth, schools, and communities. We are proud of the work that has been accomplished, although there is more to do.
On October 1st, 2011 Safe Schools/Healthy Students will hold a Family Fair at the Lewiston Armory with exhibits and workshops for local students and their families.
Each family attending will receive a 64 page Resource Handbook with ideas and tips for providing a safe & healthy environment for their children; each adult and child attending will also receive $5 in vouchers for a healthy lunch they can “purchase” on site. After the Family Day, we will distribute the remaining Resource Handbooks to as many organizations as possible, with the goal of providing one each to at least 2500 families locally.
