4/8/2008 | | "AAA+++ Facility", An Eventective User from Marietta, Georgia | I had my child's birthday party at East Cobb Stables and it was FANTASTIC!!!!!! A birthday to remember. I called about a month in advance to schedule everything and the owners went over all the details with me. They offer 2 hour programs, the first hour is for the pony rides and the second hour is turned over to the party parents so they can have cake, ice cream, open presents, etc..... We were given the option of either up to 10 children party with one pony or up to 20 children party with 2 ponies. We opted for the 10 children package which included the one pony. We were told in advance that pinatas and regular balloons (mylar were fine )were not allowed, for the safety of the horses.I appreciated being told this in advance. The pavilion area was ready for us to decorate 1/2 hour in advance just like we were told. We brought all of our own paper and food products as we were told this was our responsability. Prior to the pony rides starting a nice young lady that hand walked the children around on the pony, went over all of the rules with all of us. She explained that we needed to stay under the pavilion area unless riding of course, for safety reasons. There were horses coming in and out. She also instructed all of us to please not pet or feed the horses. I loved the fact that she expained the "why" as well., She told us that horses have extremely sensitive stomachs and are on a very restricted diet. She also explained that they didn't want anyone to get hurt by waving their fingers in a horse's face, they might be mistaken for a carrot. Last but not least she asked for one parent to volunteer to lift the children on and off the pony. One of the fathers was more than willing to help. The pony rides started on time and ended on time. There was nothing left to our imagination and everything went BETTER THAN EXPECTED!!!!!! I would highly recommend this facility to anyone looking to have a pony party for their child. AAA+++ FACILITY!!!! |
| 4/7/2008 | | "Terrible experience from beginning to end", KeithR from Marietta, Georgia | It was our daughter’s seventh birthday. East Cobb Stables was not prepared when we arrived despite re-confirming two days prior (rain or shine). The children had nothing to do while the horse (singular) was saddled (approximately 30 minutes of the two hour party) and the children were not allowed to leave the pavilion.
The pavilion was filthy and unsanitary with bags of horse bedding stacked in the food serving area along with standing rain water on the serving counter, table and chairs. The tables and chair were dirty and there was no help cleaning. This was not a ‘hosted’ event.
The single horse and handler for ten children was not enough. The handler was unable to manage the horse while helping the child mount the horse and a parent had to be pulled away from corralling the other children in the pavilion to help. In desperation to give the children something to do gifts were opened while the riding continued which meant some children didn’t get to see their gift opened or provide the recipient the ability to offer thanks. Nobody was allowed to play with their toys because it would scare the horses.
Several times someone from with the home came out and yelled at the kids to get back in the pavilion. They weren’t supposed to pet or play around the horses in the barn. We were assured there would plenty of activities for the kids – this simply was not true. When discussing the options with what appeared to be the owner we were only offered the promise that many others have enjoyed the party. This did nothing to remedy the problem.
We had to remain until all the parents arrived to pick up their children and restlessness continued. This was a terrible experience from beginning to end.
