About Monroe Camp & Retreat Center

Monroe Camp and Retreat Center could be the site of your wedding weekend. This sleep-away camp is a prime site for your wedding ceremony when not being utilized for kid's summer camp. Cabins, a chapel, recreation spaces, and lush natural sites combine to create a dynamic site for your special day. Enjoy views of the lake as you and your love say "I do" amongst the trees. Brief Building Descriptions: Boyd Hall can be used for beautiful weddings, as featured in our profile picture, to seminars, to worship services, family reunions, and more. Boyd Hall can seat up to 200 guests for a sit down event. The outside can also be used for ceremonies, lawn games, or family photos. Hafer Hall can also hold beautiful weddings up to 100 for a reception. It is commonly used for family reunions, University gatherings, board meetings, birthday parties, and the list continues. McKnight Lodge can sleep 16 comfortably and is commonly used for day events, family reunions, wedding preparation space, rehearsal dinners, youth retreats, and more. Tours are available during Office Hours: Tuesday - Saturday 8:30am-12:30pm.

Boyd Hall is easily the most popular and versatile building at Monroe Camp and Retreat Center. An open air multipurpose building, located toward the back of our property, set deeper into the woods, Boyd’s rustic barn like appearance and wood burning fireplace offer ambiance for weddings and special occasions. The exposed beams, multi colored stain glass, floor to ceiling windows, and fireplace make this the perfect place for your wedding ceremony and reception. A small serving room houses a chest freezer, refrigerator, and serving window for snacks and beverages. Each side of the building is now accessible with a large deck. The building is capable of seating 250 people and is handicap accessible. Our set of 16 pews are available for use at an additional cost.

Love the look of Boyd Hall but don’t need the extra space? Hafer Hall has many of the same features in the fireplace, beams, and porches but with central HVAC and an industrial kitchen for caterer’s use. Hafer Hall can easily seat 100 people and pairs perfectly with an outdoor ceremony at the lake. Hafer Hall is located at the front of our property with close proximity to our outdoor pool, open fields, and lakefront. Hafer’s attached large deck overlooks the woods and offers a scenic view into the camp. Enjoy the modernized rustic décor with a wood burning fireplace and partially exposed wood beams and vaulted ceiling.

McKnight Lodge is our most utilized multi use building, ideal for group meetings, retreats, and youth groups. Its three meeting spaces can be used simultaneously or used as break out spaces with easy access to bedrooms and restrooms. The two porches feature rocking chairs and outdoor fans. McKnight Lodge is used often a base of operations for larger events, leadership retreats, or the ideal space for family reunions or one-day workshops. Can be used for day use or overnight stay. During wedding seasons, McKnight Lodge is in high demand for its multi-use functions. Rented by the weekend, it can easily house a catered rehearsal dinner, sleep 16 guests, and can serve as a space for the bridal party to prepare for the big day, just moments away from either of our ceremony and reception locations.
