The yoga retreat offers a warm Bed & Breakfast atmosphere filled with antique treasures and books, a healing room and a lovely fireplace for gatherings in the living room. Yoga (Ashtanga, Kundalini), meditation with live music, massage, near lakes. Five private bedrooms each with double bed. Five full sized antique beds. Single mattresses are provided for additional sleeping arrangements. Shower & Bath are shared. Breakfast/Mid Day Munch/Dinner. Additional Costs for special dietary needs. Audio and video tapes or books on yoga, self help, are available for use during your stay. Close to Canada and near Mt. Katahdin, where the sun first hits the East Coast as it rises; you can enjoy the nearby forests, lakes, State Parks and wildlife such as moose and loons. Here you will be able to experience serenity and solitude, away from the trappings of everyday life. Donna, Amrita has been teaching Kundalini Yoga, in New York since 1985 and in a retreat setting since 1997 in northern Maine. Donna has released a Kundalini Yoga DVD "The Awakening" in addition to her yoga video "The Challenge". Sewall House has been listed Top Ten by Travel & Leisure, as well as USA TODAY and InStyle. The atmosphere lends itself to relaxation including sauna and massage therapy. The retreat is open during the summer season from June 15th until October 10th. Kundalini Yoga, Hatha and Ashtanga Yoga practice, breathing techniques and relaxation techniques are all offered. The beautiful nature and wildlife of northern Maine, canoeing, swimming, hiking, biking and porch sitting are also available! The William Sewall House yoga retreat in Island Falls, Maine; has been entered into the National Register of Historic Places. Built by Mr. Sewall in 1865, it was the community's first post office. Mr. Sewall, Island Falls' first citizen, met young Theodore Roosevelt there in 1872 and for three successive fall expeditions served as Roosevelt's guide and companion After 1878 Mr. Roosevelt never returned to Island Falls, but he and Mr. Sewall corresponded frequently. In 1886, Mr. Sewall built Theodore Roosevelt's ranch in North Dakota and told him in 1887: "If you go into politics and live, your chance to be President is good."... Fly into Bangor or come by bus/car. CYR Bus leaves Bangor daily at 6pm. Purchase ticket to Oakfield, ask to be dropped off in Island Falls, where we will pick you up.
