As a wedding venue owner and wedding planner I have seen it all. I have also been married and lost a spouse, so I get the "live each day as if it were your last". That may be hard to do, but is SO important. If you really love your future spouse, the details won't matter on the day of your wedding. The bliss of it all will overwhelm you. The biggest thing I see ruining weddings, is STRESS. So, whatever causes you stress, work on finding someone or a way to handle that part, before the wedding day. Whether it is a wedding planner or going to an all inclusive that does everything (except the photographer), or keeping it simple and being a DIY because you love doing that kind of thing. Plan to be able to do nothing but enjoy your friends and family that day. Seriously, NOTHING! Plan to have nothing really important to get taken care of at least 3 days before your wedding, preferably a week. Reaching out for all and any advice. We are trying to plan our 10 year class reunion and are stuck on how to get a venue booked when we don't have class money to book a place right now. We are not wanting anything spectacular just something big enough for up to 225 people (at most) and somewhat cost effective. We just want food, and wine and beer.
No fancy decorations or anything out there.
We are open to any dates starting in June, and then anything in September Ideally.
How do we get this started though? We have reached out to the school and have yet to hear back from anyone. We have already started a facebook page so everyone who has facebook is aware we are in the midst of planning something.

Do not try and plan this yourself. This is too important a day. I believe this is great advice. I have heard too many horror stories of wrong venue, wrong vendors selected, and overall not the outcome they wanted. Inexperience I guess can take you on this route.

Me an my partner would love to marry in a beautiful spot in a public park/garden in Kissimmee and then have a meal in a nice restaurant as our reception. We are travelling from the UK and only bringing a small number of guests, in total 6-11 maximum. We don't want all the bells and whistles, just a nice ceremony in the sunshine and then a delicious meal with our nearest and dearest.
I'm struggling to find any spots commonly used for such an event online, can anyone point me in the right direction? Do I really need a wedding planner that's going to charge me $600 for something I could do myself?

You might consider hiring a professional event planner who is licensed, bonded and insured with an excellent reputation in your community. Expect to spend some money (probably several hundred dollars) to hire this professional. Given that you will not be home, want everything done right, and are trusting all of your belongings to this person I think this is a necessary expense. Your local chamber of commerce may have a member who does event planning.
