The Old Orchard Gallery offers private event and meeting space in the St. Louis area. One of the perks of hosting an event here is the character the exhibits by local artists add to any event setting.

We sat down with Neil Sanders, the Gallery Manager for the Old Orchard Gallery, to talk about how Eventective has impacted his event business.

The Challenge

Even though the gallery has been available to host meetings and social occasions for four years, many people did not know it was an option. The challenge for Neil was getting the word out and filling their calendar with event bookings.

The Solution

Because "everyone goes online when looking for event venues", Neil set up free listings with various event planning websites, advertised with one of the big wedding sites and worked to optimize their own website.

Neil was not getting the results he expected so in late 2012 he signed up for Eventective’s pay-per-click advertising program, EventClicks, to see if he could attract more prospective customers and get the phones ringing.

The Result

Taking the initiative to improve online visibility by advertising on Eventective definitely helped publicize The Old Orchard Gallery’s event space and increased event revenue. In the first two and half months of 2013, the gallery is just five events shy of booking the same amount of events they booked in all of 2012. Over 50% of all events booked in 2013 are from Eventective users.

“Demand for private event space is so high that we are running out of available dates! ” - Neil

"Eventective has worked great and I've been very happy with the tools available and the results it has given us." Neil has especially liked the ability to post rental rates. "Our venue is designed for flexibility and can accommodate groups of 8 for a meeting or larger social gatherings and weddings of up to 80. By including venue rental fees on our Eventective listing, we have been able to promote different types of events such as half day rentals and wedding packages."

Neil's Advice

Event businesses should be marketing their businesses online and make the most of their web presence.

“ A benefit of online advertising is being able to track performance and measure success. ” - Neil

- Add rate information to your website and Eventective listing to generate interest and get prospective customers contacting you directly.
- Use Google Analytics to understand your website metrics such as how often people visit each page and how long they stay.
