About Sylvan Lake Lodge

Stay at Sylvan Lake Lodge and see Custer State Park's crown jewel for yourself. Rich in history and natural beauty, the lodge is situated in a spot suggested by architect Frank Lloyd Wright—within a hillside forest of pine and spruce trees, in harmony with the beauty of the rugged landscape. This stone and timber lodge overlooks the sloping hills and the breathtaking beauty of Sylvan Lake. The original Sylvan Lake Hotel was a stopping point for adventurers hoping to scale Black Elk Peak, the highest point in America east of the Rockies. Some of the finest trails lead from Sylvan Lake to the peak, including the challenging Harney Peak Trail and the more moderate Sunday Gulch Trail. Rent watercrafts, go fishing, or take a swim at picturesque Sylvan Lake. It also serves as a stunning backdrop for wedding receptions and other festive events. The lakeside lawn truly has no equal.

Fun spot for a family reunion - An Eventective User from Kennebunk, ME

Sylvan Lake Lodge was the perfect location for our extended family reunion. There were many options for sleeping rooms including rooms in the lodge as well as cabins. The area is beautiful and our family enjoyed many activities including water activities on Sylvan Lake, hiking trails in the Black Hills, mountain biking in Custer State Park and sightseeing destinations such as Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse Memorial. The staff at the lodge was friendly and accommodating. When we were planning our reunion they were available to help us set up a room block, suggest local activities and points of interest and plan a catered dinner in one of their private banquet rooms. Our family had a great time relaxing and enjoying the amenities of Sylvan Lake Lodge.
