Wow, Everyone seems so uptight on this thread, I think it's kind of funny Maybe even a bit flattering to the bride. And to the person above me: You would get a divorce if your husband over a wedding cake? I wonder if you even love him at all.

Thats why we girls insist on being inform of ALL the wedding plans, including the cake, I wouldn't like a surprise like this, sometimes guys think they are doing something really sweet for you but are actually embarrasing you to death

You have to admit that even though the idea is creepy, the cake is well executed! It is not easy to sculpt food in this way.

I wouldnt want a cake of myself but I do give tons of credit to the creator. He/she did an awesome constructing the cake which is what really matters. She looks like she's actually just checking the cake out and doesnt look angry at all. Btw whomever started this thread should change the name of it since she came up w/the idea and the groom. People and their conclusions.

It's ONLY cake and the ONLY time he will be "willing" to SHARE her in any kind of "personal" way even CLOSE to this! LOL!!! Laugh aleady... NOT a crime, JUST somewhat "UNUSUAL!!! )) Get "over" it!!!

We would definitely charge an arm and a leg if someone ordered a cake like that from us. LOL.
The bride pretty much always orders the cake, or has a girlfriend or wedding planner do it for her. There is no way she didn't know what she was going to get on her wedding cake.

I think if the groom took the time to order such a cake, it is to show a display of love, affection and devotion to the bride. While it might be a little startling, it is the thought and his love that counts the most here!

Initially, a nice gesture, then you have to wander maybe she wanted to see what she looks like outside of her body, perhaps she wanted to be bigger than life, what about the taste, who wants that much chocolate? If you think the cake cost alot, look at that RING!!!!! on her finger... and then when all has been said, perhaps she wanted to see what she looks like in death... It looks like a dead person standing up... one who is smililng because, she surely is not as she stands beside the man she will spend the rest of her life with.. And what is that little knife gonna cut????? LOL!!!! They definitely left a LASTING impression on their guest for sure.....

Did the groom get a look-a-like cake, too? Now that would be unique and interesting. Probably not, right? Bridezillas are all about themselves. However, he looks happy; she looks disappointed.

for God's sake why would anyone think the groom did this? doesn't the bride plan, order, etc., her wedding to be just exactly what she has dreamt all her life? he didn't do this; SHE did it! this has been on TV and she did it all.

From a baker's point of view: Give the bride what she wants without being judgemental! It is not YOUR day... its her's!

Don't blame the bride, blame the person that told her it was a good idea and the friend that should have stopped her. Not everyone is born with good taste. LOL

The photo could have been darker than the real woman, too. Which would explain why the colors are off. The design is very tricky to pull off, even for a seasoned cake decorator. I'm actually very impressed with the skill in making the cake. Personally though, I hate the idea of the cake being all about the bride. They could have the cake half the size so the decorator could have made one of the groom too. The way it is, the wedding and reception seems to be all about the bride, and not the bride and groom's new life TOGETHER.

Wow, Everyone seems so uptight on this thread, I think it's kind of funny Maybe even a bit flattering to the bride. And to the person above me: You would get a divorce if your husband over a wedding cake? I wonder if you even love him at all.

I'm sure the intention was good, but I find that these sort of novelties detract from the bride. I did film a wedding where the bride and groom had 12" replicas of themselves at the base of their wedding cake and thought was really cute. Another had cute "bobble" heads of themselves topping the cake, which was quite adorable.
I'd rather do a "strolling live table," whereby a dressed model, made up to look like a character or celebrity wheels in a table filled with pastries or appetizers. This would be the way to go, if you wanted something magical and over the top.

If my husband made a cake that looked like me I would still love him and thank God he didn't make a cake of one of his old girl friends or the like. I know that he loves me and I love him and that is what marrige is about, truly loving someone and wanting to spend the REST of your life with them. Honey, I still love you!

I saw this episode on the food network channel. The camera actually lies about her reaction here. She told him that she wanted cake that looked like her, so that was his gift to her for the wedding. On the show, she was excited about it.

Everyone is assuming he made it for her. . . WHAT IF SHE MADE IT FOR HERSELF???
Or worse yet, what if the Mother-In-Law made it for her new son-in-law???

Um, everyone assuming that he made it for her. She made it for herself. She is actually a talented cake decorator who recently competed on Last Cake Standing on Food Network with her husband has her Sous Chef

Bit beyond over the top... she doesn't look very excited about it.
