Have you considered renting bikes or kayaks if you are near water? You could hire a band for a concert? Or do karaoke. Try to get everyone involved!

First I would make sure you have enough volunteers so that everyone will have fun..If the picnic serves alcohol, have Kareoke. Have a clown pasing out balloons and face painting, have someone organize softball, vollyball, or kickball

Is it a family picnic or an employee's only picnic?
Is this a year in which you want to be having a grand celebration or is it a year to have a great time but on a lower budget?

It's for employees and their family. We don't want a "grand celebration", just a great time on a moderate budget.

Getting To Know Each Other
One purpose of a family company event (outside of having a great time at the event itself) is to encourage the attendees to get to know each other. A listing of a few very low budget "getting to know you type activities" which I have led at both corporate events such as bring your child to work day and community based events follows. All have been extremely well received.
- Networking Bingo. Make a game card for every attendee by drawing lines dividing an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper into one inch squares. Fill each square with a descriptor for each attendee such as: in fifth grade, plays golf, likes to cook Italian food, won an award in 2009, starred in school play, worked all night yesterday. Make copies for each attendee. Give attendees a game card and marker as they arrive. Objective for each attendee is to fill the card by getting a person who matches the descriptor to sign a square or two on the card. Maximum two signatures per person per card. Also, need to get contact information (such as name legibly printed and an email address ...or parent's email address) printed on the back for each person signing. Everyone is a winner as small prizes are awarded to everyone filling their cards. Champions are the youngest 5 people to fill their cards (without parent help.)
- That's My Mom/Dad. Bring group of four to five parents with their kids on stage. Blindfold all of the kids. Kids need to identify their parent based upon asking job related Yes/No questions of the parents. (Parents hold up a Yes/No sign and a moderator announces the answers.) Also, do a round in which the kids need to identify their parents based upon shaking hands.
- That's My Son/Daughter. Similar to That's My Mom/Dad, except this time the parents attempt to identify their kids based upon school related events and/or handshakes.
- Championship Networking. Bring the champion Networkers from Networking Bingo on stage. Blindfold them. Ask them to name and describe as many people as they can. Person naming and correctly describing the most people wins.

Different games to build team cooperation, plus I would suggest a DJ that has the understanding of what games the company can play to generate friendly competition. If family members are invited a few games that can be played as a family unit or team.

The Activity Page
Hi,
About eight to ten years ago a Graduate Student by the name of Christian Itin (now, I believe, a Professor at Humboldt State University in Redding, California) assembled a list of activities on what he called the Activity Page. The work started at the University of Denver and then migrated to Geocities. When Geocities was eliminated this work was archived. It took me a few days to find the URL to the archive, but I think some of the activities may be helpful to you.

If your looking for a great Food Vendor, You might want to look at Sassy Hot Dogs They have been setting up at Northern Tools on I 35 in Saturdays and Sunday. At least you can check them out. They have a great looking trailer. The hot dogs are gourmet on fresh baked buns. They have every kind of dog you can think of. Hire them to do the cooking, and get the people in some awesome out door activities. Like Horse Shoe contest, washers, What is really crazy is tricycle races.

How about hiring a balloon twister? I was at an event where they had one, and everybody was walking around in these crazy hats and having a GREAT time. The artist was very entertaining and fun to watch. And the balloons everywhere made the atmosphere really festive. It was funny how much the adults were getting into it, even more than the kids were!

A good close-up magician can be an attraction for kids and adults. The routines a magician performs can be customized to any kind of audience, and the experience of a great magic show is the memory of a lifetime.

We've provided a variety of musical entertainment for many company picnics that have proven to be a lot of fun for everyone. The important thing is to focus on fun, while you keep speeches and company "business" to a minimum during these events. We've found families (adults and children) relate well to Karaoke, DJ "dance music" and live vocal shows. Children love face-painting, "temporary tatoos," etc. Ron, Cape and Islands Entertainment 508 274-0388

There are a couple ways to think about this. There seem to be two dilemmas that arise when trying to decide which way to go. The first is how do you think your employees will react to having a celebration that is much different than it was in the past? If you do nothing at all, you risk the impression that the business is in trouble causing more insecurity for employees. If you have had to lay off a number of employees, one solution might be to scale it down and combine the event with a food drive for the local food bank or something to help kids with school supplies.
Second, are you concerned about how your clients might feel if they see you having a celebration? Creating an event that will benefit a non-profit or charitable organization can make it appear to be more acceptable, but make sure that it looks like a sincere partnership without ulterior motives.

If families are coming you might consider some structured activities for the children. Often that gets the parents involved. Structured games in general (that are not too physical) can be real fun. They did that at the last casino employee event I was at and it seemed to work. www.livesoundaudio.com

What kind of entertainment would you like? Do you want to focus on the Employees (read adults) or the children? There are 2 major different live entertainment options from quality performers; Strolling (roaming) style or a show.
Ask for website and most importantly see if they have videos on their site and see send info you find to all the event committe members.
Also, price and value are very different. You might get a similar price range from a quality entertainer (but typically they are much higher) consider those factors when looking at vendors. Hope this is helpful. Magically, Phil Smith Abracadabra Productions

I planned a company picnic using the Olympics as the theme, complete with opening and closing ceremonies, trophies, the whole thing and folks had a blast. Outrageous Olympics is the company that helped me put the event on and we were at Smoky Glen Farm in Maryland. The key to this event was the hype before, getting the managing partner and other management folks in on it and really making it fun for the staff and the families. The kids had fun too - if you need help, just let me know!

Wish you were in Corpus christi to have your event on Captain Clark's Flagship to cruise on the bay. You may have a river boat there! We hold 400 people and company picnics are great for the families. You can bring pot luck on our boat or have the event catered, have games for kids, a band for the adults...something different on each of the different decks.

A close up magician, or sleight of hand artist is always fun. Its like having David Blaine or Criss Angel at your event doing tricks for small groups of people at a time. In my experience it works great for all ages, and if you get the right magician they are usually funny too. Close up magic is perfect for things like cocktail hours, picnics, and restaurant type settings. Some of the tricks a close up magician might do are: making wine bottles appear from thin air, bending silverware with their mind, and mind reading. If you are considering a magician I may not be in your area, however if you have any questions I would be glad to help.

Photo booths are an awesome idea for corporate events. People have so much fun and it keeps your employees at the event longer. If you hire a photo booth with props it also keeps kids entertained. A great company to check out in the midwest is: http://agoodtimephotobooth.com/
They mainly do Kansas City but I think they'll travel as well.

While I was working/living in south Florida, I started an entertainment company that included Hermit Crab Races. I was the EmCee and had great response from everyone involved. This turned out to be the biggest hit at all of my customers picnics (over 300). Depending on where your event is, you may want to try it.

You should check out kent steel he's a one man band, plays everything from Elton John to ZZtop, billie joel to Toto and he's available as a single, Duo and with a full band, better than a DJ we used him for an event as a duo and they rocked!

Have you tried making music video's. Each guest takes home a Dvd of the event. They even make special dvd labels for the event. You get to pick a song, put on funny hats or glasses and star in your own video. It is hilarious and and something different. The name of the company is Boppingheads Entertainment and they on this site. They do any party for any age.

We have an outdoor activity each year for our assoicates and their familys. Last year we did some of the games you see on Minute to Win it. Set up four or five stations and have teams competing. It is a lot of fun, and the childern are able to perticipate. We also had a soft ball game and bingo (with a few prizes for the winner). You may even get one of your assoicates or a family member to DJ for you.

What are some fun ideas that can be incorporated into a corporate meeting with prospects or customers rather than just having them sit through presentations.

Hi Tara Brown,
In order to appropriately answer your question I need to ask a lot more questions:
- What do you hope to accomplish with the customers?
- What are you selling or marketing?
- What is your customer profile?
- What is your budget?
- Are customers traveling to your event or are they local?
- What are your customers goals?
My answer would be dramatically different if you are selling home appliances, time shares, surgical equipment, commercial real estate, consulting services, commercial air craft, cosmetics, cleaning supplies, vacations, etc, etc. etc.
If you prefer I can probably be more helpful in a 1:1 Consultation. You may contact me through my EvenTective listing or my Education By Entertainment web site. No charge for initial telephone consultation.

As event photographers, we set up a backdrop either with what is available, ie - small lake, picnic tables, trees - or we bring in back drops. Let the cameras roll, emails are obtained providing a digital image of the fun that took place.

A stilt walker was at our recent company picnic & he was amazing. He juggled, made balloons, and entertained both the kids and adults. Everyone loved him!

The setting that you choose should be informal; fun, hopefully involve the ocean. We have had a couple of parties on cruise vessels providing DJ and Karaoke services. Open bar, sea food, appetizers, terrific music and lots of fun!

I have been performing at corporate events for over 12 years. One thing I always notice is that they are looking for someone/something to bring them together. Often times, they don't know each other and need a show/activity to unify them as a group. I think a comedy show is the perfect thing. I perform a comedy and variety show called the Matt Baker Comedy + Stunt Show. I have broken 4 Guinness World Records and have appeared on America's Got Talent and Last Comic Standing. Take a look at my site www.comedystuntshow.com to see why I am one of the highest rated corporate entertainers on the West Coast.

Get an Onsite Pit BBQ to cater your picnic. It attracts quite the crowd (especially the men) and the food is hot off the pit. The smell of smoked foods will surely create the perfect picnic. www.halobbq.com https://www.facebook.com/HaloBbqAndCatering

If you're looking for that "just right" musical entertainment, perhaps I can help. My name is Paul Burger and I have been entertaining crowds of all ages and demographics since the early eighties. With acoustic guitar and voice I perform songs spanning five decades of classic rock, blues and adult contemporary hits like James Taylor, The Allman and Doobie Brothers, Bob Seger, Cat Stevens, Johnny Cash. the Eagles, etc... Reasonably priced, not too loud, willing to travel (some). Look me up on Facebook and Myspace

Party meetings are important for boosting company morale, encouraging employee relations and celebrating the success of the company. I have attended one of the party meetings at an ecstatic place in Santa Monica mountains and the customized arrangement they provided us was a treat to the heart. Be it the games or the invitations or the food or anything you could name was best arranged. Though I had left the company but I still cherish that memory.

I'm looking for some ideas to make sure everyone is having fun at the company picnic this summer. I want to do more than play frisbee or whiffle ball this year. Hi, What about create your picnic with a "Carnival" twist, Include games that you might find in a carnival. Or a small scavenger hunt in which you can include groups (teams) instead of individuals, this way your guest will share and get to now each other better. Also bean bags sack races, go to Oriental Trading and for less money you will be able to decorate and get prizes for the teams. Fun in a budget, Have your picnic with a theme and base your activities on it.
