Hello there!! What I can tell you is that when trying to save money and find a nice clean larger sized venue your best option is to call your local social organizations. Some examples would be Veterans of Foreign War Halls or VFW's , American Legion Halls, Mason Halls or even a Fire Hall. Most times these places will allow you to just rent the facility and then you can provide your own DJ, food, snacks, drinks and decorations. I do alot of these type parties and generally speaking I can do a party for 100- 150 people including food, unlimited drink, decorations, custom invitations, cake, DJ and Lights for $1999 I can do them anywhere so if you are interested in a quick consult call or email me 610.564.9525 or email sandramcguckin@comcast.net

Thanks for that. I am planning my oldest daughters sweet 16 and 6 months later my second daughter opted for the quince, you made me feel so much better about them being so close and still being able to plan something great without breaking the bank.

Hello, I live in MA and hosted a very formal, elegant Sweet 16 two yrs ago for my oldest daughter. I spent less than $3,000.00 on the whole event. We had a formal hall, DJ, wedding style cake, 2 buffet tables of food and I even had chocolate fountain with tons of goodies to dip. Every guest had a great time but most importantly my daughter to this day brags about it. I'm currently planning my youngests sweet 16th for April and my budget this time is $2,000.00. You just have to shop around and sometimes it's the little things that make the lasting impressions.

Hello, I live in Maryland and I am looking for a venue. I am giving my daughter a sweet 16 birthday party that will be an all black attire event. I don not need a DJ. I would love/like for the venue to be in the downtown area. I checked the Eubie Blake for a price. It is $200-$250 per hour. That's too much for me. The boat house on Waterview Ave is $800 6 hrs. The price is reasonable but still too much for my budget. I still have to live after this party. Does anybody know any venues that are running under $500 in the downtown Baltimore area. I will sacrafice for a cheap venue that is not in the downtown area.

Hello, I am in the same situatuion. I can tell you what I am doing for a start. I am looking for a venue in the downtown area of Baltimore. You must know what colors and theme you want. Also have an idea of how many people you are going to invite to make sure the venue is big enough. next decide wheter it will be catered or you and family members will prepare food. Find a D.J and professional video/photo. I think once the bulk of evething is imagined in your head ideas will come togther aftr that. Take care.

Guest August 4, 2010
check out VFW'S, Fire halls or Mason Lodges they are usually a bunch cheaper

VFW's, WMCA/WYCA's, any lodges or Knights of Columbus are usually the best places to start looking for a party space. They are usually clean, have tables and chairs, a coat room and a stage for entertainment/dj. They usually ask for a donation. You will have to do everything yourself - i.e., buy and cook your own food, or cater part of it, set up sternos to keep the food warm, buy your own beer, wine and soda (or set up a table as a bar area and hire a bartender who would be glad to serve your guests for usually around $150-200 for 4 hours). You also need to determine the following:
* date and time (usually a Sunday is a cheaper time to rent or have an event at a venue)
* theme and colors
*# of guests (you have to make sure you have enough seating)
For elegant settings, I would use lighter colors, like pinks and blues and light greens and lavenders with a mix of colored and cream flowers, cream table cloths. If you have a theme like "hearts and butterflies" or "disco", you should have some decor for that party atmosphere. For sweet 16's, you can have a "Sweet 16 Diva-licious" theme and enter your reception with your best pals dressed in sequins, feather boas and masks, the guys could wear top hats and funky neon sunglasses and dance to Lady Gaga or Beyonce.
I offer services for invitions, thank you cards, favors, sign in posters and banners and can recommend the best places to get bling and other table accessories.
Anyone interested in my free initial consultation, you can email me at liseramos@msn.com
Good luck to all!

A word of advice, NEVER say 'cheap'. Say 'inexpensive'. You want quality for less quantity (of dollars), NOT less quality for less quantity. Think of it as buying the generic brand of something. You want it to work or look just as well as the real thing, just cost less. Good luck!

We live in Davisburg, MI and are planning a sweet 16 party...well trying to at least. I am not sure what to do. We are having around 30 or so teenagers and don't have the space or the entertainment to provide at the house. We need a non expensive affordable place or a few ideas to have this party. Thank you. smile

You could also try the WYCA/WMCA that often have party spaces, a kitchen, bathroom and is airconditioned. Good luck!

I am trying to find a very inexpensive place to host a sweet 16 for my daughter. Just need to rent it from 5pm - 11pm. Needs AC and a place for a DJ friend to plug in his equipment. Need to keep it under $200. If you know of such a place contact me at Katt.Robertson@cox.net. Single mom - can't afford much at all.

Guest August 17, 2010
Dear Friends:

For inexpensive venues, I would do a search in your area for the following:

Eagles
Elks
Lions
VFW
Grange halls
Knights of Columbus
WYCA/WMCA

They may only ask for a donation and usually have a kitchen, air conditioning, tables and chairs, and a coat room.

Check your local phone book or stop by a neighborhood real estate office who should have a map of your area and all public access locations.

Also keep in mind that many catering venues offer up to 1/2 off for an evening weekday party (like wednesday or thursday) or a sunday afternoon event. You get the same treatment, but since the economy is bad and the venues want the business, they offer it at much cheaper prices.

I'm in NYC, which is by far the most expensive place, and was able to find venues with full buffets, non-alcoholic drinks for as low as $25 per person (and beautiful rooms to boot).

Good luck to all!

Best,
Lise'

i tried to call you but we got disconnected. i can recommend a planner in your area, however would need to know the following:

*# of guests
* your budget
* your theme/colors etc.

You need a starting point and this information would be helpful when selecting a coordinator/planner. alternatively, you can find a venue by seaching out organizational space like Veteran halls, WYCA/WMCA's, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, etc.

Good luck

I can assist you, but need some information.

# of guests you think will attend
* the date of your event
* are there any budget restraints. In other words, how much is your family willing to spend on your party.

I think that your theme is beautiful. You can have white branches with crystals dripping from the branches and fake snow and other decor that shimmers. You can have table cloths with beautiful shimmery overlays that have a bluish-white sheen.

Drop me a line and give me more info so that I can have an idea of how to proceed.

All the best,
Lise'
