Conduct a Strategic Annual Planning Meeting

If you run a small company, you might not have ever conducted a strategic annual planning meeting. It's a big company technique from which companies of all sizes can benefit. Many small companies mostly react to customers, competitors and changing conditions. The objective of an annual strategic planning meeting is to set out a plan of action that will allow a company to seize the initiative rather than to merely react. Determine who will attend the meeting. In a very small company, that might be everyone who has managerial authority. In a larger company, you'll want your department heads to attend. These would be your heads of development, human resources, production, marketing, advertising and finance. To encourage frankness and brainstorming, you probably don't want to invite vendors like your accountant or lawyer.
