Hi HamptonAshlei,
I would suggest that you start by reading the following posting by Reverend Ann Fuller who frequently monitors these forums: http://www.eventective.com/forum/topic1410-ideas-for-inexpensive-venues.aspx to find a venue. Once you read it over and begin to do some of the items on the list come back with specific questions as there are a number of people including Rev Fuller, myself, and a number of planners here who would be pleased to help. Also, think about whether you wish to hire a planner, who you would like to have officiate, what type of reception you would like to have, and whether you would like to hire a professional photographer (highly recommended) and videographer. Bring your questions back here... and I'm sure you will receive lots of great feedback.

You need to hire a wedding planner in your area right away. Take a look at other weddings they have planned and make sure they are your style and to your liking. As well, make sure you are comfortable with the planner, because you will work closely with them on one of your most important days.

Most weddings are planned up to a year in advance, so get started now.

Best wishes,

Hey there..I don't pretend to tell you to fly off somewhere...just start at the beginning, look at budget and possible locations first. and compare $$...then contact several photog. and florists to see very rough price estimates for your venues....Dresses come in all $$ next visit a full line stationer to get $ estimates for you number of guests, on invitations, guest book, thank you notes, napkins and programs
Point being, begin at the b
eginning...don't spend one dime, until you have done ALL of these

First, don't panic...breath. It can be done (we just did one in 2 months and it was amazing). Since you have your date, send Send the Date cards to your guest list. That will get you on their calendars. Next determine your budget. That is key. Your reception (venue, food, drink, etc.) will be 35-45% of your budget (rule of thumb). Make 3 lists - 1 must have; 2 would love to have, but can do without; and 3 nice to have if we have extra money. There are wedding checklists you can get to give you guidance. Feel free to download mine (1st page down the page a bit is a link).

If you can hire a planner, do even if just to help you find your venue and vendors. I am a planner and am open that date (and travel) so would be interested in working with you, but regardless who you go with find someone to talk to and who can refer you to credible vendors.

Congratulations!

Start by picking up a bride's magazine or a wedding planning guide at your local bookstore. Both will have a timeline and ToDo lists to get you started. Once you've looked at those, determine whether you want to tackle the job yourself, or hire a wedding planner. You will also need to set your budget (which means you'll also need an idea of the number of guests you want to invite). Then follow the advice of either the wedding planning guide or your wedding planner as to what you need to do in what order.

Best wishes, and ENJOY the process!

Hi Deborah, The actual link is: http://www.carlsoncraft.com/Display/40/112/wedding_timeline.pdf . The problem with your original posting is that the "period" after the URL was actually made into part of the URL in the link. Of course, the website itself did not have the "period" in its URL... so there was a mismatch. Ron

First thing you need to do is contract the hall and whoever is going to marry you. Once you have that, your date is pretty much secured./ Then you can concentrate on the other vendors you need. DJ, photographer, videographer, baker, florist, etc.

Keep it simple, that's my motto. Weddings sometimes get out of hand and can cost a fortune.
Find the right videographer and photographer, a caterer with good taste and mix in lots of love and
voila!

Good luck with what will likely become one of the best days of your life. Through our experience we have found that it’s best to shop around for both competitive pricing and the ideal pieces that reflect who you and your partner are. I can’t help you with all the intricacies, but we can offer you a great idea for wedding favors. Our staff can very reasonably provide beautiful matted watercolor prints of your wedding, or reception venue, (or just your favorite spot). Many of our clients have expressed how a gift of this nature ensures that their wedding is remembered for years. If interested, check out our website www.cooperstownpostercompany.com/weddings.
