Laura Beth McLarty Goff White was a music teacher in the Hot Springs public schools for many years and had a HUGE impact on many young lives. Some of us want to throw her a thank-you party. It could be anywhere from 10-50 people. (I'm going to go with more like 20-25) Every one wants a lot of money and none of us are all that well to do. We just want a private room, perhaps in a restaurant where we could order food or a conference room where we could bring in a cake and drinks or something like that. I'm not unwilling to pay out of my own pocket to use a room for about 4 hours but I can't seem to find anything less than about $500 and I can't pull that out of my hat. I'm on a pension. If anyone can make suggestions I'd appreciate it. It's on a Saturday night from 6-10pm Feb 20th....if we can find some place to have it!
Can anyone help?

Well, weall know with the statistics that marriage isn't easy as being consider. Whatwas your best piece of advice that you will not forget forever?
The best advise I ever got was never leave or go to bed angry. Always, always remember that you never know when a conversation with someone you love could be your last. If you would regret your words to them for the rest of your life if they were your last then make it right. Anytime my husband and I argue and I am ready to choke the life out of him I always picture something happening where I never got to see him again. When you look at it from that point of view it's funny how silly and mundane arguments can seem and put back into perspective what's really important. After 21 years my greatest joy in life may be finding new ways to irritate him to death but we must be getting something right. =)
My Grandmother gave me that advice, and it simply resulted in my husband and I staying up all night trying to fix a situation. As the hours dragged on, and we got more and more tired, we stopped really thinking or making sense, but things weren't resolved, and we were terrified to go to bed until they were: so, crazy, crazy all-nighters to avoid 'going to bed angry'. We have since leaned that we love each other, no matter what little problem crops up. We now just acknowledge that we love each other, but it is too late to discuss things. We go to bed, get a good night's sleep, and the combination of rest and time often takes the angst out of the situation. 10 mins of clear headed discussion in the morning, and we're done. The key is to acknowledge that, while you may be unhappy with certain behaviours or situations, you do love each other. So, if something terrible happens in the night, and one person doesn't wake up, well, you still went to bed saying I love you. Usually, the late night angst filled situation really turns out to be not that big an issue in clear light of day. My advice: say I love you no matter what, get a good night's sleep, and resolve in the morning after rest, time, and getting a clear head. BTW, I'm celebrating my 26th wedding anniversary this June. Still honeymoonin'!
I would love to hear what you chose and how it went, please? Planning 50th for boyfriend. Over my head. Don't know many of his friends and trying to balance a fun location, not too fancy, reasonable price. He's a beer lover, and I'd like to be able to bring in our own beer selection too. Any help would be sooooo appreciated! Thanks!
I want to find the perfect spot to have a small wedding and reception for less than 30 people. It needs to be in Niagara, and I would prefer not having a full evening affair, in fact I would like a lunch/brunch idea.
I have a small budget.
Can you suggest something?
A few question to ask your self....Are you doing Event planning because you like Working Hard for someone?, You can handle any problem that comes along without bothering they person you are working for? Can you be on your feet for 12-14 hours of each event? Are you willing to give up every weekend, and days in the week for an event? Are you willing to say Sorry I can not go to that because I have a function, to your family and friends? Do you have time to network network ( no that does not mean just on Facebook, means go to meetings to met other vendors) Do not think you can jump in and charge a lot of money for your hard work.. You have to start small and build up. Working for friends They always want discounts, Are you planning on working a reg job and do Event Planning? You have to have time to send emails talk on phone and meet clients in person.. Do you have time for all that? You have to love what you do... Always remember a Wedding or Event can NOT be a re-do If you mess up...that review can kill your business... Can you stay out of drama, from other vendors? I have had my business for 19 years and at a networking meeting the other night, someone said They have never heard any drama and my name attached. I keep vendor relationships business... I see them at meetings at wedding/Events. but I never go have a drink with any of them. I do not drink at networking meetings... Always keep them respecting you...
It is hard work best part about being a Wedding Planner is that excitement in the Brides eyes when she sees her vision come to life on her wedding day!! and Everyone saying how wonderful everything is. and the Thank yous all evening long. Then the couple doing a great review on you... It is worth so much...Makes my heart excited, and gives me 2nd wind after a 14 hour day....
I wish you very best in your future... Love what you do,, do not do it if you think it is a get rich fast career.

So me and my fiance are finally gonna tie the knot this year. But will all my visa being processed and a lot of paperwork done we are now on a tight budget.
Would like to request your help guys if you got any tips for me on planning our Big Day.
Any suggestions are very much welcomed. I'm so lost as I am not familiar with the places to check in Billings, Montana.

Why don't you have the party at your local zoo. Many zoos provide programming, cake, ice cream, room for a party, etc. at affordable rates. Of course, you have the opportunity to explore the entire zoo. The zoo may also have a student or staff member who is very knowledgeable about animals and likes children host your event, so it will be a great learning opportunity as well as being fun. Money raised (assuming your zoo is a not-for-profit organization) then goes to support education, animal welfare, etc.

We are a non profit, Non Government Organization. Our company is Tahanang Walang Hagdanan, Inc. located at Cainta Rizal, philippines. This was founded by a Belgian Nun, Sister Valeriana Baerts and was established February 21, 1973. The center has 3 workshops Metalcraft, woodcraft and Needlecraft. Most of our workers are PWD ( Persons with Dissability.)
We manufactured Wheelchairs and other mobility Aids, furnitures like chairs, table & cabinets, educational toys, eco bags & many more.
With the budget you have available and the type of event you would like to have I would suggest possibly a basement of a religious institution or a school gymnasium (if you have connections with either a school or religious institution and they are willing to let you use it for nearly free) for a venue. You'll need to enlist family and friends to prepare food, decorate facility, etc. as the $500 budget ... assuming you can rent the facility for about $100 allows only about $5.00 to $10.00 per person for food, decorations, entertainment, etc.
Depending upon how cold it is in your area, you could also have the event outside in a park... and make it a true winter wonderland...
Think about how to enlist a volunteer workforce and make the event fun for them, too...

Need a place for 60-70 for a awards banquet. In Decembe, dinner , dancing and bar
From what I concluded from your note your goal is to be married on a specific date. You don't want to spend a lot of money. You are not really concerned about elaborate ceremony, etc,. but you do want your family and friends to be there with you. Based on all of the above I would suggest considering two options.
- If you are religious, speak with your religious leader about having your ceremony at their place of worship.
- If you are not religious consider having your wedding ceremony at a park or beach. (Just be sure there is some cover/shelter or lots of umbrellas available if it rains).
After the ceremony either:
- Go to a local family restaurant that you enjoy for dinner. Just order off the menu. If you tell the restaurant in advance, I'll bet that some nice person there will do a few extras for you.
- Have a park or beach dinner buffet. Some of your more distant friends could do this for you, modified pot luck -- with possibly buying some prepared foods,
Alternatively, if you have friends who live in a condominium, they may be able to rent their clubhouse for you for the reception.
I would suggest having a couple of friends who take really good pictures of people make a beautiful photo album for you. Since you don't seem concerned about a fancy wedding dress, etc. you may not need the skill of a professional wedding photographer.
This won't have all of the features normally associated with a wedding which you imply you don't care much about when you discuss elopement., but you will achieve your goals of getting married inexpensively and including the entire family and having a day of fun with your family and friends. Ron

So my fiance & I wanted to elope at the courthouse with our 4 kids and best friends (who would stand as our MOH & BM). We are a 1-income household & just cant afford a lavish wedding. But being that I come from a very close-knit (filipino) family, I know it'll upset them if I don't include them (sister, mom, etc), So it's forced me to consider an "Intimate Wedding" and I feel like I can't find ANY spot in Central Florida to accommodate us on such a tight budget. The wedding is set for our 10th anniversary next Jan, and I feel so lost and overwhelmed. I want it to be whimsical and romantic, and intimate.
I am turning 18 on February 4 and I wanted a room for 20 people and we would love to have music also
