The One Great Hour of Sharing special offering invests (in our denomination) in Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, the Presbyterian Hunger Program, and the Self-Development of People ministry, all of which are key in helping people survive, recover, and get on their feet following the pandemic and other disasters. This offering is received during Lent across the PC(USA) and other churches and dedicated on Palm Sunday.
Members may donate by check, noting "One Great Hour of Sharing" or give online during the spring by clicking the Give Now button below. Steadfast Neighbor Matching Grants and Service week June 17-21, 2024

We are thankful that Westminster members have filled 522 S. Glenwood with furniture and household goods in anticipation of our refugee family’s arrival. Their arrival date has been moved to the last week of March during Holy Week. We will need to purchase some items upon the family’s arrival and your financial donations continue to be gratefully accepted. Members may note in the memo line of their check “Refugee Ministry.” Portraits of Peace
On Sunday, March 17, an enthusiastic audience of nearly 100 people from Westminster and the Springfield community enjoyed Portraits of Peace, a program featuring both music and drama celebrating the lives of civil rights leaders Rosa Parks and the Rev. Dr. C. T. Vivian. Dr. Sharon J. Willis of Atlanta, Georgia, a composer, playwright, and actress was joined with organist, Linda Andrews, tenor, Alfonzo Cooper, Jr., and pianist, Dale Rogers for Portraits of Peace. The program was recorded and may be viewed here.
The program was held in the sanctuary and a reception hosted by members of Worship, Music and the Arts Committee was held in the West Narthex following the program.

With each new day, we reaffirm our common purpose to join in the worshipful praise of God, to teach children, to lead and inspire the young, and to call everyone to life-long learning in the church, to be influential participants in society by being accountable to the Gospel, to show the love and compassion of Jesus Christ toward each other, and toward those who are hurting, to be a caring community welcoming both friends and strangers to own our Presbyterian heritage, reformed and always reforming, to be prayerfully open to the renewing power of the Holy Spirit. |
