Vegas-Style Weddings come to Sweden
June 28, 2008
The Church of Sweden plans to start carrying out Vegas-style drive-in weddings that will be a mere seven minutes long.
The weddings will take place at a car rally next month in an effort to make weddings more accessible and less commercial.
Despite the high price of fuel, 36 couples plan to get married at the auto-enthusiast gathering in Vasteras in central Sweden.
The event aims to make weddings simpler and more down-to-earth, de-emphasizing the commercial aspect that weddings usually have.
Ten priests will be on-hand to marry the couples, who will be in a motorcade of 1950s and 1960s cars.
The event will have a huge neon sign that reads “Get Married,” so drivers will know where to go. Music for the event will consist of Elvis Presley songs performed by a gospel choir.
