Burj Dubai Gets Even Taller
June 10, 2008
Currently at a height of 638 meters tall, the Burj Dubai will be the tallest building in the world when it is completed, after even more floors are added to the building.
Adding the extra height to the building is a challenge because of strong winds, which caused a loss of 18 work days in May.
The construction of additional floors will delay the project by six months. The final height of the building has yet to be disclosed, but it will be the world’s tallest upon completion.
Downtown Burj Dubai will also be home to the world’s largest shopping mall and a recently-announced $217 million fountain that will be 275 meters (900 feet) long and shoot water 150 meters (500 feet) into the air.
It will also include a music and light show with 6,600 lights and 50 color projectors and will be situated next to the Burj Dubai.
