I DO! Taking Weddings to the Extreme
Posted by jessie under Weddings
For some couples, a typical wedding ceremony on the ground just doesn’t cut it. Here are some ways that people go to extremes to inject their wedding with adrenaline and make it truly unforgettable.
Skydiving wedding
A skydiving wedding is the ultimate way to take the “plunge” into marriage! There are a couple of ways you can do this.
You can either say your vows on the ground before or after you jump out of the plane, or you can say your vows right before you jump from the plane 14,000 feet in the air!
When you land on the ground together, you’ll be married.

Scarlet Johansson Marries Ryan Reynold in Quickie Wedding
Posted by jessie under News, Weddings
Sorry guys but Scarlet Johansson is officially off the market.
The 23-year-old starlet married fiancé actor Ryan Reynolds, 31, last weekend in a small wedding in Reynolds’ hometown of Vancouver.
The couple became engaged last May after having dated since April of 2007.
Reynolds, known for his role in the television series Two Guys and a Girl and National Lampoon’s Van Wilder, was previously engaged to rock star Alanis Morissette. However, the two mutually ended their engagement in 2007, and the experience is said to have fueled Morissette’s new album, Flavors of Entanglement. (Rolling Stone review)
Johansson and Reynolds were married at Clayoquot Wilderness Resort, a remote resort located outside of Vancouver. The ceremony was intimate, with less than 40 people in attendance. Clayoquot describes itself on its website as “remote, refined, remarkable” is an “ultra-luxurious eco-resort in Canada’s untamed wilderness playground.”
The seasonal resort features wood-fired hot tubs and saunas scattered throughout and a Healing Grounds Spa, which is housed in white canvas tents. Rates start at $4,750 per person and include accommodations, horse-drawn wagon shuttle, all gourmet meals, snacks and alcohol, guided/unguided activities and Vancouver/Tofino return float plane.
Johansson, who recently starred in Woody Allen flick Vicky, Cristina Barcelona, told US Weekly less than two months ago, “I mean, I’m 23. There’s no reason to rush into it. Everything feels very natural and relaxed” and had also said recently that she finds the idea of monogamy to be “unnatural,” so the wedding is an interesting turn of events.

Wedding Planning for Unordinary Couples
Posted by bobbyb under Weddings
A wedding is a joyous occasion in cultures around the world. While many couples opt for traditional wedding venues like reception and banquet halls, those who walk to the beat of a different drum seek extraordinary measures for their special day.
Consider Katie and Darren McWalters, an English couple who tied the knot 1,000 feet above the ground while they were strapped to the wings of two biplanes.
The bride’s dress fluttered wildly in the wind as the reverend (who flew ahead of the couple) married them over an airborne communications system.
Perhaps that isn’t as weird as the latest vogue in China. Despite discouragement from China’s more conservative leadership, many newlyweds are having their wedding photos taken while in the buff!
The hot trend is catching on as young brides wearing nothing but a veil and a smile pose for pictures that will end up in their wedding albums for all posterity (and posteriors) to behold!
If you’re looking for weird wedding venues, Seattle, Washington, offers several for those who desire the bizarre.

Muttrimony: Getting Married Doggy Style
Posted by jessie under News, Romance, Weddings
It goes without saying that Americans are pretty insane about their pets.
It’s a common sight these days to see little dogs dressed up in sweaters and jackets, or sporting fancy rhinestone-studded collars. Many owners pamper and spoil their pets as if they were one of their own children.
One of the latest trends, and probably one of the weirdest, is when dog owners get together to marry their pets in Holy “Muttrimony.”
Believe it or not, marrying pets has become a huge. The entire process is almost identical to human marriages in that they have a receptions, real priests to marry them, and much more.
As one reverend told the Chicago Tribune:
“Marriage for an animal is almost like marriage for a human. An animal union is more like a blessing under God.”
“Well, I am a reverend,” Scott said. “If you’re in a family with two animals and they want to unite in a wedding, what difference does it make? It is not a sign of the Apocalypse. It is a sign that animals often seek to form a lasting bond and have deep commitment.”
