Description
The Washington Park Zoo was housed on the Senior Center grounds from 1892 to the mid 1950’s. The Zoo then relocated due to the construction of a new express way system that took up part of the old Milwaukee County Zoo grounds. Zoo animals, band shell entertainment, picnics and fishing in the lagoon are just some of the memories and highlights for those who grew up in Milwaukee. Presently, the Center has a welcoming and neighborly atmosphere bustling with a variety of activities for those 50 and older. Our collaboration with MATC and UWM attracts people who want to expand their computer skills and improve their health and quality of life. The fitness center provides user-friendly muscle strengthening equipment, as well as cardiovascular bikes, treadmills and seated steppers. Staff from UWM is available on a part time basis to help get you started and provide ongoing assistance. Washington Park Senior Center is open to anyone 50 years and older. Best of all, there is no participation fee.
