Located in downtown San Antonio ( the Alamo is an easy six-block walk), opulence and attention to architectural detail are characteristic of one of San Antonio’s alternate meeting venues. Built in 1926 as a memorial to World War I veterans, a devastating fire in 1979 completely gutted the interior of the auditorium. In 1985, the renovated and modernized building was re-dedicated. Although the building was modernized, the stately elegance and grandeur of a by-gone era was retained. The beautiful stage proscenium and decorative organ grills that are on either side of it, make any stage presentation a first class production. The stage boasts of the 45 foot by 75 foot stage, with a 37 and a half foot high proscenium arch. The stage is complete with a full complement of curtains, theatrical lighting and a concert quality sound system. The main auditorium seats nearly five thousand. Designed to meet a meeting planner's needs, there are 34,848 square feet of space for banquets, receptions, exhibits, and meetings. Ideal venue for performing arts, graduations, and indoor spectator sports. 4,884 seats on four levels; Orchestra & Floor- 3,082, Balcony- 1,802. Electronic tilting main floor accommodates both stage and floor events. Large stage with a proscenium opening of 76 ft. by 32-36 ft. Spacious lower level- 23,000 sq. ft. of meeting space with movable walls. Loading dock includes two stage level truck bays. Loading/unloading access to basement level. Large basement rehearsal area, Green Room, and 8 dressing rooms available. Stage lighting includes a ETC Expression 2x lighting console and four follow spotlights. The sound system includes a 72 channel mixing console and 3-way EAW concert quality speaker system. ADA compliant- wheelchair accessible event viewing areas and hearing assistance devices are available.
