Roy Harkey - Singer & Guitar player
COUNTRY - BLUES - FOLK – SOFT ROCK – GOLDEN OLDIES
Roy started making and writing music in his youth. During those early years, he co-wrote and played on a Country song "Groovy Grubworm" that went to #1 on the country charts, and was nominated for a Grammy that same year.
He started singing and playing various instruments in his youth. While in High School, he played string bass with the Oklahoma Youth Orchestra, and the Oklahoma University Lab Band and Symphony, and sang and played guitar with local "Rock & Roll" and "Motown/Soul" Band's in the North Texas & Oklahoma areas.
He played bass with the Ike and Tina Turner Review during his early college days (before their famous split-up), and has played and sung with over a dozen small to large bands during his music career. Roy has also had the opportunity to sing and play both on and off stage with Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Hornsby, Tommy Castro, Delbert McClinton, Bruce Channel, Harlow Wilcox, Edgar Cruz, and a few other nationally known recording artists.
In addition to having a "normal" corporate career, Roy has been a "gigging" solo guitar player/singer for most of his adult life. He has performed a One-Man-Show in Las Vegas, and now specializes in clubs, restaurants, private parties (house parties, pool parties, cocktail parties, family celebrations, anniversaries, birthdays, etc.), wedding receptions, public festivals, corporate functions, and community events.
He has a very large musical repertoire, and covers most musical styles. Roy enjoys playing Folk, Blues, Old & New Country, Ballads, Folk/Rock, Soft Rock, Rockabilly, Doo Wop's, Golden Oldies and Easy Listening music; and can 'mix' enough different types of music during his sets to please everyone in the crowd.
