7/8/2008 | | ""Would not use again."", An Eventective User from Arlington, Texas | Not enough servers. Table clothes were wrinkled. Ran out of food and would not replenish. Was not organized, had to do last minute details myself when the person in charge did not show up until well after the party started. Charged us $2 a glass for champagne toast, but hardly had more than a sip in each glass. They started cleaning up before our time was up. It is a nice place, just poorly run. The servers they did have were pleasant, just over-worked. The food that was there was not all good, but some was. I would say the experience was mostly a miss. |
| 6/13/2008 | | "We Do NOT Recommend", An Eventective User from Arlington, Texas | Sadly, we do not recommend them anymore. In April, our friends held their wedding reception at the White Room in Arlington. The service was disappointing but we did not say anything at the time because we did not know who made the arrangements. However, the bride and groom later informed us that they complained about the insufficient number servers according to their contract, but the White Room did not listen or refund any of their payment. We sat on the right side of the stage. We saw a couple of servers on the left side, but no one ever came to the tables on the right side (while facing the wedding party). We finally had to go to the cash bar and get drinks ourselves. Some of us bought drinks while other guests at our table requested a couple of pitchers of water and the guests served the glasses at our tables. At one point, several of us went back to the cash bar to refresh our water and mixed drinks. During that time, servers were delivering sparkling grape juice for the toasts to be presented. But again, the servers failed to deliver any drinks to the tables to the right of the wedding party. We finally ran back to the servers and grabbed a couple of bottles to share with our surrounding tables just in time for the toasts. The food was tasty but they did not plan sufficiently for the location of the food and line(s). Therefore, the lines were slow and people were running into each other trying to navigate around the entrance, wedding book table, food line, food tables, and then return to their tables. There was no help when punch and cake were served, the guests pitched in. One's wedding day is supposed to be joyous. It was joyous, but disorganization and staff shortages at the reception hall put a damper on the fun. We do not recommend them. |
| 6/12/2008 | | "Not Recommended", An Eventective User from Arlington, Texas | | I no longer recommend the White Room. My dearest friend had her wedding reception at the White Room in Arlington. My family has been to the White Room for various family events in the past with great joy. Unfortunately, the April 2008 wedding reception was not up to par. 1) There were not enough water servers; 2) The water servers did not attend to the guests on the east side of the dance floor; 3) The cash bar charged different rates for the same drinks to different guests, and different rates to the same guests for the same drinks upon a second visit; 4) There was not enough help when it was time to serve the cake or refresh the punch. Foremost, when the Bride and Groom complained after their honeymoon, the management did not respect their concerns stating something to the effect "your daughter-in-law didn't complain when she paid the bill; it's too late for us to do anything about it now." Disappointment doesn't begin to explain the Bride & Groom's sentiment about the situation now, and I share their grief. |
| 6/2/2008 | | "I do not recommend this establishment", An Eventective User from Grand Prairie, Texas | | My husband's daughter had her wedding reception there 5/17/2008. There were several issues I had over the course of the evening. First being that I, kept having to search down someone to refill water and teaclasses. The wait staff, was gathered and visiting by the restrooms and not really attentive to the guests. I have to inform the wait staff to refill the punch bowl, just before the cake's were being cut as it was completely empty, again they were all gathered around the restrooms, just visiting with each other, and not checking on things like that. We paid the additional $35.00 to have the cake cut and our DJ had to assist that person in cutting the cake as they had never cut a cake before. The brides mother and myself met seperately and paid separately, both of us were told by the owner/manager that any additional food left over will be sent home with us, as we purchsed 20-25 more plates than we had RSVP guests for. After everyone had eaten, I fixed the photographer, a "friend" of mine a plate and there was quite a bit of hot plate food and sandwiches left over. We were first told that nothing was left over, we were then given our remaining fruit & vegatables, and one item of the hot plate food, and the manager informed me "it was in the contract" Well read that carefully, as the only thing I saw pertaining to the food was alcohol service. Our cost was so much for the reception area that night & approx $20.00 per person for catering plus Tax & 20% gratuity and honestly I've received much better service from McDonalds! I also attend a lot of catered corporate functions and having that exposure I was very disapointed in the service and misrepresentation. I will never recommend nor arrange another function there, do not care how much less it is than other facilities |
