Do you know: what will be expected from you as an employee, how work will differ from school, what will make you a good job candidate, and how you will discover career opportunities?
During this session we will first discuss the realities of the work environment. Then we will discuss some very practical topics: a career planning process, principles of structuring a resume and interview tips. Given the importance of truly understanding and remembering these principles and tips, a series of easy to remember activities will be introduced at this session. These activities encourage students to be acute observers, realize how statements may be interpreted, realize the different points of view of different employees and employers, encourage career exploration and networking.

The topic is very serious. The presentation is lots of fun!!!Education by Entertainment, Providence — Do you want to major in psychology? Psychology is a very popular undergraduate major. In psychology, unlike engineering, career options for the baccalaureate level graduate are not necessarily obvious. Likewise the best choices for courses and activities are not necessarily the obvious ones either. Thus, this presentation is designed to provide initial guidance on options available to the individual considering or working towards an undergraduate psychology degree. The following questions are addressed:
What are your “career options?"
How does your psychology degree help you?
How do you maximize the value of your degree?
What do you need to do to maximize your options?
What skills will you offer an employer?Education by Entertainment, Providence — Oftentimes team captains, club presidents and other office holders at the high school level are selected because
they are great individual performers. An outstanding basketball player might be elected as the captain of the
basketball team. An excellent writer might be elected to be the newspaper editor.
To be effective once one becomes a leader a different set of skills is needed because being an effective leader
involves working through others. This workshop will begin with scenarios on how to achieve success by working
through others to help them grow. During the second part of the workshop we will discuss how people can achieve
their personal objectives while working through others. In the third part of the workshop we will have some
exercises and games to help us learn about human capabilities and limitations so that we can be more successful working through others.

This session will be informative and fun!!! Participants may even win a prize.Education by Entertainment, Providence — Games To Explain Human Factors: Come, Participate, Learn & Have Fun!!! is a popular, informative highly interactive, exciting and entertaining TV game show style program which offers a unique combination of instruction, activities and prizes. Spell SPOT really fast 5 times.

Now tell me... What do you do at a green light?

Did you say spot, stop, or go?Education by Entertainment, Providence — Do you need to organize a Career Day or Night for your local middle school or youth organization? Are you the person responsible for coordinating a "Bring Your Child To Work Day" program for your business? If either case, this presentation is for you!

An effective and engaging format in which students are required to discern the job responsibilities of a series of guests is presented. While the format was motivated by the 1950's and 1960's television show "What's My Line?1" the exact process and rules of the program are not identical.

Students seem to be very interested in the session, asking numerous questions. When asked informally if they enjoyed the event and if they learned a lot the answers to both questions were unanimously "Yes."
