outdoor wedding in the fall - An Eventective User from Philadelphia, PA

One of my very good friends just got married at the Lodges at Gettysburg; the Lodges was the perfect location for an outdoor fall wedding; the grounds are beautiful and there are many scenic locations on the grounds that are unique to the area; covered bridges, a glade of birch trees; it was perfect for an outdoor wedding. The main building is big enough to have held the wedding in if the weather had not cooperated, and there are multiple locations where a tent can be pitched. The lodge also has a number of small cabins that can sleep anywhere from two to eight, I think, but not enough for each grouping of guests invited to my friend's wedding, so everyone stayed in hotels which are located about 30 minutes from the Lodges, however shuttles arranged by the bride and groom made this a minimal inconvenience. The inside of the main reception hall is somewhat odd because from what my friend was telling me, they are in the process of dating and renovating some things, so there wasn't really a cohesive them or look to the room itself and the bathrooms in the main building were old, small and ugly, but they were clean, so this was not really a huge concern. The wait-staff and other staff members were all extremely nice and efficient and the food was better than many weddings we have been to in the past. There was some trekking over lawns to get to the site of the wedding, but that was because the bride and groom picked a very specific spot in the woods. The trek was not bad or rigorous; I walked barefoot to keep from sinking in to the grass in my heels. All in all, the historic setting and beautiful and historical grounds made this a truly beautiful and amazing place to have a wedding.
