 8/12/2008 | | "disappointing event coordinator", An Eventective User from Beaverton, Oregon | My daughter chose Eastmoreland as the site for her wedding last month.
In the planning period we were promised several times that additional information would be emailed to us. This info was either not sent at all or was sent after we reminded the coordinator that we needed the info.
On the day of the wedding there were 3 issues that arose.
1 We were told to go to Reed College or the Rhododendron Garden. We learned ahead of time that the Garden requires a reservation and a $200.00 fee. When we arrived at Reed College we were stopped by the security guard and told that we couldn't take pictures there either. We returned to Eastmoreland and were told that in spite of the bad advice we still could not take pictures there until the time of the ceremony.
2. We arranged the flowers for the tables outside the club house in the morning. When we left at 12:00 noon we were told that someone would be right out with a cart to take the flowers inside an put them in the cooler until time to set the tables. We returned to Eastmoreland at 4:30 and the flowers were still on the tables outside in the sun and wilted.
3. My daughter chose to serve cupcakes instead of a traditional wedding cake. There were more cupcakes than would fit on the cake table at once. The table was arranged very nicely with what would fit and the rest of the cake was kept in the cooler. When I noticed that the table was running low I asked one of the wait staff to put out more if there were still some left. None were added. At the end of the evening while packing up to leave, there were still cupcakes to take home that should have been put out for the guests.
The day and the wedding were beautiful. My daughter, her husband and our guests had a great time and the wedding will be remembered joyfully. Unforeseen circumstances are bound to come up during an event such as a wedding but the things that I listed here should not be unforeseen to an experienced event coordinator. |
