Irving St. Kitchen is a vibrant new addition to the Portland, Oregon dining scene that offers a soulful New American menu anchored in slow cooking, deep flavors, and seasonal ingredients, all with southern overtones.
The restaurant is the latest project from San Francisco restaurateur trio Doug Washington and brothers Mitchell and Steven Rosenthal, who jointly own and operate the Bay Area's acclaimed Town Hall, Salt House and Anchor & Hope. Executive Chef Sarah Schafer leads the kitchen at Irving St., and Wine Director Nicole Burke, who is also behind the beverage programs at the San Francisco restaurants, heads the wine program that emphasizes local producers through its barrel-to-bar approach, which includes a ten-tap, argon gas system as the showpiece of the restaurant's bar. Irving St. Kitchen was recently named Willamette Week's "Best New Restaurant" in its 2010 Reader's Choice Poll.
