When we were planning our big day, a major decision had to be a part of that. What photographer do we use? It is a difficult question because like many things in a wedding; pictures are one thing that can never be redone nor changed. I could have hired a big company name, paid the enormous price and get half of the time I did for my special day. But instead I asked my father to do my engagement and wedding photos. I know this may come off biased, but working with him for many years as an assistant for other peoples special day I loved the way he was with each bride and groom, each flower girl and ring bearer and having patience with each part of the wedding. I knew that my father would have to play double roles as a person in the wedding and as a professional photographer. It rained on our wedding day. We had 6 of our own children to wrangle, countless family shots, but having patience, taking unique shots, spur of the moment ideas is what we truly wanted. Not only did he get every shot we wanted, stood out in the rain with no worries, chased me around for those instant perfect shots, had patience for all of our extended family, but also made me feel even more special on my day when he was working as our photographer.
