About The Transept

Nestled in the OTR neighborhood of Cincinnati, what appears to be a gorgeous German gothic church on the outside has been transformed into an amazing, unique and historic Cincinnati event venue on the inside. The Transept's interior is rich with history, grand staircases, hugely unique features such as a 50-ft. vaulted ceiling with original wood beams, giant chandeliers, exposed brick, private entrances, ornate windows and stained glass. Hidden amongst the historic grandeur are numerous modern elements, such as built-in sound systems, TVs, media features, specialty lighting and more. From the largest and most prominent venue, The Assembly room, to the smallest nook, The Bridal Tower, and all the unique spaces in between, The Transept is full of surprising comfort, remarkable quality and inviting details. Tucked away with full privacy from the remainder of The Transept and with its own private entrance, The Agreeing Room is an advantageous atmosphere for making a decision. In fact, that was the inspiration for the name. Though the name once upon a time exclusively inspired business negotiations in corporate settings, its purpose today has expanded to hosting a variety of intimate gatherings. The Agreeing Room is one of OTR and Cincinnati’s greatest small event venue spaces. Our hosts and guests enjoy a variety of intentions here, from wedding planning to family celebrations to corporate dinners with honored guests. We often host cocktail parties, board meetings and intimate dining experiences—many hosts choose to include all three in a single evening.

The Assembly is the crown of this entire space. Its huge, high vaulted ceilings draped with large chandeliers are a remnant of this venue’s former life as an actual church assembly. Now transformed, it’s our largest space, yet it has the most hidden features, most of which you’d have to see in person to find! The striking setting of The Assembly is commonly called upon for wedding receptions and celebrations. As The Transept’s largest venue space within this Cincinnati building, and one with a fully restored and functional stage, we also frequently welcome music performances and corporate events. Its accommodations peak with use of the Bridal or Bell Tower—often our most talked about feature!

The atmosphere of The Registrar plays well with a variety of event needs, though it most often plays host to corporate meetings, rehearsal dinners and private events. Guests and hosts love this event space for the charm, the features, the full-service bar, the bartenders and service staff and as a way for close family and friends to wine and dine while getting to know the venue space before a larger event in The Assembly.
