 9/17/2011 | | "Southern Hospitality at Its Best and Most Luxurious", An Eventective User from New York, NY | My wife and I were recently married at the Carolina Inn, the most famous hotel near the UNC-Chapel Hill campus where we both met each other. The hotel is one of the best in the entire South, and they made sure that my wife and I received every possible comfort during our three days there. They helped arrange a beautiful ceremony in the main courtyard, and when it seemed like it might rain just a few hours before the wedding, they very quickly put up a nice tent before any of the chairs even got wet. The dance hall we went to afterwards was no less fantastic, and the hotel officials made sure that everybody had the best possible time.
The hotel is expensive, but they did what they could to offer our friends a discount on rooms. Many of our friends wound up staying for about $129/night. It was a lot, but the rooms are extremely comfortable, there's a gym, pictures of UNC alumni on all the hallways, and they give you a warm chocolate chip cookie when you check in. The staff were without fail very friendly, and were able to cater us very well. We were no more than a five minute walk away from the main UNC campus, and I was able to take the time to go to the bars around campus that I hadn't seen in several years. The nostalgia value also made my time with the Carolina Inn a very personal and rewarding one. I could not recommend this place more enthusiastically, especially if you have a prior connection to UNC! |
