Camp Onyahsa was founded in 1898 by the Jamestown YMCA, which makes it one of the three longest-established YMCA resident camps in the nation. Adding major new construction over the past several years, this beautiful lakefront camp is nestled withinover 160 wooded acres along the shores of northern Lake Chautauqua. Its facilities include a large new year-round heated lodge, a large and beautiful winterized dining hall, sports fields, nature areas, cabins, and tents. Onyahsa, one of the very oldest and proudest YMCA resident camps in North America seeks to continue its program and facility development and protection to become a premier children's' summer camp for the people of our region.
Onyahsa's adult veterans and families get together to share memories around the campfire. Children's activities, a fundraising auction, tour of new developments, games, good food, and great fun will be shared. Need not be an alumnus to join the fun. Please inquire for detailed information for this year, or to join the Alumni Committee. Camp Onyahsa offers its facilities for picnics, retreats, reunions, school outings and School Environmental Education classes, conferences, Sportsmen, business meetings, overnighters; and day, weekend, or weeklong events for groups. The camp site offers a scenic bay on Chautauqua Lake.
