 8/10/2011 | | "Island Hotel allows for a great view", An Eventective User from Williamsville, NY | We had our wedding reception at the Riverview room of the Holiday Inn on Grand Island, NY. True to its name, the room allowed a great view of the Niagara River. Since it was located on the first floor, we (and our guests) were able to go outside. This gave our guests more room to mingle (not that the room itself wasn't large) and we got some nice photos in front of a lovely white gazebo.
Everything went according to plan. Appetizers were ready when the guests arrived, and dinner was served right on time. The quality of the food was great, and many guests commented favorably about the prime rib (one of the meal choices). Cake was served exactly per our instructions, with everyone receiving a generous slice with none left over (because we weren't planning to save the top).
We were impressed that the hotel was so accommodating to us in the planning stages of the reception. A few days before the wedding, we came to drop off the favors (chocolate bars) and the banquet manager stored them in the walk-in refrigerator to ensure they wouldn't melt. While we were there, we asked if we could spend a few minutes in the Riverview room rehearsing our first dance, and we were allowed to spend enough time as we needed.
By having the reception at a hotel, this allowed us to immediately go upstairs to our room (included in the room/catering cost) rather than having to drive somewhere else. We were exhausted (but happy) at the end of the evening, so being able to go right to our room was the icing on the cake. I recommend this venue to anyone looking to have a wedding reception in Western New York. |
