The McCains are a native Mississippi family of Irish and Scottish ancestry. The McCain family left Ireland in 1719 and found their way to Mississippi in the 1830s. The McCains settled in Carroll County and Choctaw County Mississippi and have been sort of in the news since that time.

They have kept up their kin folk in Ireland and have been over for visits to their cousins in Ballybofey and up and down the Finn Valley in County, Donegal. Their first album, Traveller's Way was recorded in part in the Glens in County, Antrim.

Their music includes standards from Southern Old Time music, and Irish and Scottish traditional music. There are songs sung in Gaelic, beautiful old Irish harp tunes, songs by Robbie Burns, reels and jigs, Southern traditional favourites, played on a variety of acoustic instruments, including guitar, mandolin, bass, bodhrán, and tin whistle.
