The Rozsa Center for the Performing Arts is located on the campus of Michigan Technological University, and it is nestled in the historic heart of the Western Upper Peninsula’s copper country. The Rozsa Center opened in October 2000 and is the largest theater in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It was named after Drs. Ted and Lola Rozsa. The 80,000-square-foot facility includes a main stage, large lobby, art gallery, green room, recital facilities, ticketing office, concessions stand, practice rooms, dressing rooms, scene shop, classrooms, conference rooms, and offices. Professional services available to rental groups include event coordination, stage production, and an excellent in-house caterer. Concerts, Performances, and Benefits Nothing beats a live performance whether it is music, comedy, or theater. The Dr. James A. & Margaret C. Black Performance Hall and the James & Verle R. Klungness Stage provide an excellent location to host musical and dramatic performances, in addition to lectures and workshops. The theater can seat up to 1067 people. State-of-the-art sound, lighting and video systems, accessible venue and a professional production staff make the Rozsa Center the place to be heard and seen. Banquets, Receptions, and Special Occasions The Rozsa Center’s beautiful Samuel and Grace Horner lobby features 20’ high ceilings with a spectacular 160’ wall of glass. Whether it’s a charitable gathering, a special reception, or a luncheon celebration, holding it at the Rozsa Center will go a long way to making the occasion successful and memorable. The lobby can host receptions for up to 500 or dinners for up to 250 guests. The lobby, along with other conference spaces, is also a great location for art shows, small concerts, and events of all kinds.
