The Commander's Mansion, also known as Quarters 111 was built in 1865 by Major Thomas J. Rodman, the commanding officer for the Watertown Arsenal. The exterior of the mansion is paneled with brick work that decorates the chimneys and charming iron "lace" arches, while Corinthian columns support a grand Victorian Veranda. Inside, the mansion's 27 rooms are designed around a central grand foyer. A gracious, sweeping staircase with ornately carved balustrades leads from the foyer to the floors above, which are illuminated by circular skylight. Other interior details include 11 (non-working) marble fireplaces, ceiling medallions, heavily patterned moldings, many fine woods, reproduction Victorian wall papers, and antique furnishings-making the Mansion an elegant setting for your event. The Commander's Mansion, the perfect setting for any function, from small intimate gatherings to a large outdoor tented reception. Set on seven private acres the mansion is a classic example of Italian-Victorian architecture with intricate details throughout.

"Great venue", An Eventective User from Newton
This is a beautiful wedding venue. There are so many spaces to utilize. We used the mansion to host our cocktail hour. The house has beautiful and elegant rooms and staircases. It has many rooms and each space is a beautiful photo opportunity. We had our ceremony in the arbor which was amazing. The tent is a great reception area and held 180 guests with a large dance floor. We took pictures all over the grounds and had such a special day there. The staff is very friendly and goes out of the way to make sure the day is perfect!

"Great for weddings or other parties", An Eventective User from Boston, MA
The facility has a classic and elegant feel. There is an outdoor area perfect for weddings, surrounded by vine covered fences. Inside there is plenty of space, though it is broken up into multiple rooms. There is also an outside patio with a party tent. If the inside is being used then it fits about 100 people, but if the tent is used it can fit more. The people who coordinate events are extremely helpful and responsive. It is also very reasonably priced and they have plenty of vendors to recommend. There is a full kitchen on site and plenty of parking. Also handicapped accessible.
