About Rotch-Jones-Duff House & Garden Museum

Built by shipwrights in 1834, the property encompasses a full city block of gardens which include a boxwood parterre rose garden, a boxwood specimen garden, a woodland garden and a cutting garden. It is the only whaling mansion open to the public in New England that retains its original configuration of grounds and outbuildings. Today this National Historic Landmark offers house tours, a variety of cultural programs and changing exhibits, curriculum-based educational programming, and can be rented for special events. This elegant 19th century mansion and gardens is the ideal setting for your special event. The tent covered terrace and gardens of this historic property accommodate all types of celebrations from May through September, including weddings, receptions, private parties, family reunions, business meetings, photo sessions and celebrations of all kinds. The Rotch-Jones-Duff House & Garden Museum can host events for 75 seated guests or 125 for a cocktail party. On site amenities include full use of the exterior grounds and gardens, reception tent(s), outdoor lighting, indoor kitchen facilities for caterers, three restrooms and a dressing from on the terrace level.
