Boston Harbor Islands Alliance (BHIA) represents Spectacle and Georges Island in Boston Harbor (National Park) location sites for clambakes, weddings, conferences, events. Dominated by Fort Warren, a National Historic Landmark, and this 39-acre island is the center of transportation to the islands. The island is 53 acres at low tide. Seven miles from downtown Boston, Georges Island contains a large dock, picnic grounds, open fields, paved walk ways, a parade ground and a gravel beach. Guided tours of historic Fort Warren are offered. Georges also has a snack bar. Georges Island is open 9:00 am until sunset. Visitor services are provided daily in summer, spring, and fall. Special arrangements for school groups are possible for weekdays in spring, summer and fall seasons. A 1700-foot path connects picnic areas (dock and Visitor's Center located midway); 300-foot path connects the north picnic area to fort; 1100-foot path spur connects Visitor Center to ravelin.
