Have it all in the Gaylord National, An Eventective User from Wappingers Falls, NY

The Gaylord National is a hotel of epic proportions. It features a massive atrium, in which is contained an entire small village, complete with shops and restaurants. It is a beautiful property located on the banks of the Potomac River, and feels more like a small city rising above the landscape than a hotel. Every little amenity or comfort you look for in a hotel - from the smallest to the largest - can be found somewhere within the Gaylord's confines. It is an immense place, and actually requires a little orienteering for those who choose to tackle it without a map. As far as the business side goes, you name it and the Gaylord has it. Its meeting venues range from small, private rooms to enormous halls that can fit thousands. The best part is, none of them have the sterile feel of most meeting rooms. They are all meticulously looked after and decorated to give a sense of character. Beyond the venue itself, the Gaylord is a wonderful place to lay your head at night. The rooms are simple and cozy, and many of them contain a balcony that overlooks the atrium, which is a truly fantastic view to behold when it is all illuminated at night. Outside of the hotel you can find everything you would expect from a hotel in a metro area. There are several good restaurants, bars, cafes, and whatever else you can dream up. Should you need to escape the hotel, the surrounding area is pretty serene and not as bustling as one might expect from a city. However, I doubt you'll want to leave such a magnificent hotel.


Gaylord National Harbor, An Eventective User from Washington, DC

The Gaylord Resort was the ideal setting for an entire wedding weekend. The newly-developed National Harbor provided the perfect entertainment for guests over the course of an entire weekend, with plenty of bars and restaurants just steps outside the hotel. The Gaylord itself was so friendly and accommodating, meeting our every request. Not only was the service impeccable, but they truly went above and beyond what was expected. As an example, our cocktail hour was held in the lobby of the hotel; the Gaylord went so far as to provide security to act as a 'bouncer', preventing non-wedding guests from crossing through the area of the lobby where our cocktail hour was held. The food was excellent -- the steaks were done to perfection, quite rare for mass-produced steaks at a wedding venue. They were able to accommodate our every desire; we did not want the typical hour-long break in the open bar that is typical during dinner, and the Gaylord was willing to meet our request. The views over the Potomac back into DC are beautiful, and it is easy for out of town guests to arrive thanks to the shuttle that runs between DCA and the hotel.


Everything Under One Roof!, An Eventective User from Nyack, NY

I have been to three conferences at the Gaylord National in Maryland. It has a great location, close to Washington DC, Baltimore, and even parts of Virginia! The best part of the Gaylord National is that it has absolutely everything you could ever need under one roof. This building houses a wonderful hotel, multiple restaurants of different styles and price ranges, stores, bars, and a fabulous Conference Center. I have had good experiences staying in the hotel portion of this center, all three times I have been there. The rooms are spacious, well-appointed, and very comfortable. Room services could not have been better (I ordered room service at least once during each stay). The conference center does not disappoint. There are more conference rooms (of varying sizes) than one could possibly ever beed. There are large rooms to house huge groups for keynote speakers and presentations. There are tons of smaller rooms perfect for breakout groups and workshops. There is always good quality coffee and snacks served at points throughout the day. If groups need to have a sit-down breakfast, a catered lunch, or a welcome dinner, that is always wonderful as well. If you need to buy something, there is a gift shop and general store, a clothing shop, pajama store, as well as others. For casual eating, there is a European-style buffet serving breakfast and lunch, and a terrific sports bar with great ribs (and a good Superbowl Special if you happen to be there for that). There is also high class dining with a Steakhouse and also a fancy seafood restaurant. The Steakhouse even has a cigar bar. Everything one could possibly need is at the Gaylord National.
