"Perfect for a second wedding ... or a first", An Eventective User from Boston, MA
This has to be one of the most romantic places ever for a small wedding ceremony. It used to be the home of William Paca, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, and a former governor of Maryland. It's a classic brick estate in the heart of Annapolis, and was built in the mid-1700s. The mansion has two brick terraces, both of which overlook a gorgeous two-acre, terraced formal set of gardens. There is a beautiful little pond that has a classic Chippendale footbridge over it ... many people get married on the bridge (like I did). I will never forget that day because a black cat wandered right into the middle of the ceremony (but did no lasting damage)! Saturdays, of course, are the most expensive day to rent ($1500), but if you have the ceremony during the week, you can have it for as little as $300. You can rent the house, one or both of the terraces, and or the conference facility. If one of the listed combinations isn't what you need, you can contact them and they will do just about anything for you. You can even arrange for a photo shoot, and they will let you use the catering kitchen (for a fee, of course). If you want to eat elsewhere, I would highly recommend the Treaty of Paris restaurant, just down the street. The setting is unmatched, and is especially nice in the late spring and in the fall. It is a National Historic Landmark, as well it should be. They are only closed Thanksgiving and Dec 24-25.
