Constructed in 1929, the building was designed in the Art Deco style of architecture common to the era. Originally known as the Lincoln Bank and Trust Company, The Gillespie property later became part of National City Bank until 2005. Currently accepting reservations for events, The Gillespie has emerged as a premiere location for the most stylish weddings, social occasions, charitable galas, and corporate events. Located at 421 West Market Street in the heart of Downtown Louisville, we are a short walk to the Kentucky International Convention Center, Vincenzo’s Italian Restaurant, and Z Fusion or just a brief taxi ride to The Galt House, The Louisville Marriott Downtown, 21C Hotel or The Hyatt Regency and other downtown restaurants and attractions. For your convenience in preparing an exceptional event, you may also wish to take advantage of our on-site event planner, caterer or florist. Our on-property event team has the experience and the knowledge needed to maximize The Gillespie’s space while helping you create a polished event. However, you are welcome to work with any outside event professional of your choosing.

Are you interested in a historic setting for your event? Jim Miller Hall is a real treasure! The cornerstone was laid on July 3, 1833. After a fire destroyed the original building, the new building was dedicated on September 8, 1895. It was purchased by the Thoroughbred Chorus in 1981. The building was known as Thoroughbred Hall until recently when the Thoroughbreds renamed the building after Director Emeritus Jim Miller who led the Thoroughbreds to 6 of their 7 International Championship wins. Jim Miller Hall, home of the Thoroughbreds, is conveniently located at 10609 Watterson Trail, in the heart of Jeffersontown. It is the perfect location for your event. This historic church building can comfortably accommodate your guests. The large stained glass windows and huge trees make beautiful backgrounds for your pictures. There is a recently remodeled kitchen for food preparation by the caterer of your choice. It's okay to serve alcohol however, you can not sell it! Smoking is not allowed in the building. Tables and chairs are provided for parties of up to 150-200 guests. Ample parking is available. The hall rents for $600 for all day, from 8:00 AM until 11:00 PM, and a dance floor is available for an additional $150. We require a $250 Reservation Deposit when we sign the lease to hold the hall exclusively for you. We require a $250.00 damage deposit which can be secured with a credit or debit card, cash, money order or certified or cashier's check, when you receive a key code to the hall. In 2010 we remodeled the large kitchen and installed all new oak cabinets and updated the appliances to include a side by side refrigerator, a stove and an under cabinet microwave above the stove as well as a food warmer to keep your food warm until it is time to serve it. We also replaced the 2 main furnaces to keep your guests warm on the coldest of days. In the Spring of 2011, we replaced all the carpet and gave the walls and trim a fresh coat of paint. We also purchased 200 new white fan back chairs, and 2 round tables to use for cake table, wedding party, gift table, etc.We also repaired some of the stained glass windows and made several other minor improvements. In the Summer of 2012 we replaced the 2 main air conditioners to insure your guests remain comfortable on the hottest of days.
