7/22/2008 | | "Not for a Wedding Reception", An Eventective User from Frankfort, Kentucky | | Did not allow us access at promised time..we were told we could have access to the site to begin decorating at midnight the day of. (Our wedding was at 2:30, so we needed to get stuff done the night before). At time of rental, they tell us we may be able to get in sooner, but in fairness, they didn't promise anything. We arrive at midnight and there is still a party of people there! Evidently that party was told they could stay until 12:30 and they could clean up afterward! So we tried to call the person in charge, but of course at midnight she's not answering, so we wait. Do not use the stoves in the kitchen during summer months or the place becomes unbearably hot! The party that was held the previous evening used the stoves and the place was burning up even at 10:00 the following morning! They have to get special permission to mess with the thermostat, so it's not a simple thing to cool it down. Don't count on the ice machines... party previous night used entire bin of both ice machines in the building. Be sure to check them as soon as you arrive. Wipe off chairs and tables... we did & it turned our rags brown on each one, no cleaning crew I guess. The clubhouse at Buffalo Trace is a two level place, so many of the guests couldn't fit comfortably upstairs to see some of the festivities. Lighting is poor so alert your photographer. Grounds are beautiful and great for photo ops. If it's not too hot, the deck & grounds could add a lot to a reception or party. Overall, I would recommend the place for an informal party, but definitely not a wedding or reception unless it's a very small affair. |
