RKO Blues Band, based out of Wichita, Ks, plays varying styles of blues including Chicago Blues, Country Blues, Delta Blues, Harmonica Blues, Texas Blues, and a little bit more. RKO has been a steady working bar band in and around the Wichita Metro area for over six years, playing many venues and special community events. A few of the band members have been friends for many more years and have played together at various times. RKO has three lead vocalists and two lead guitarists that all share the workload, making for an exciting night of blues music. Their recently released CD, 'Live At The Port' is a good sampling of the different blues styles that RKO mixes in during a night's work. The CD was recorded live at The Port Of Wichita in May of 2011. The great bluesman, Rev. Robert Wilkins, (born in Hernando, Ms 1/16/1896 and died in Memphis, Tn 5/26/1087) once said so eloquently..."you see, after so many years of pressing down hard upon the colored man, that person gets something like a diamond. Now that diamond is hard, but it is still the most highly paid for stone in the world. The blues is what happened when Negroes started 'mining' for their special gift from God...Find your diamond and you will find your blues."
