" The Ron Smolen Big Band / Orchestra " is a 10 piece dance orchestra that provides the best Big Band entertainment and dance music available. “ Every Night Is New Years Eve “ as " The Ron Smolen Orchestra " creates a party atmosphere along with a “ Touch of Elegance “ by providing listening and dancing enjoyment for all ages in the great tradition of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman, Wayne King and Guy Lombardo. Over the past 40 years, " The Ron Smolen Orchestra " has performed thousands of engagements including Weddings, Concerts, Dinner Dances, and Corporate events throughout Chicago and the Midwest. They have also performed at a wide variety of venues including all of Chicago's major Ballrooms, Grant Park Summer Dance, Navy Pier and for City and regional festivals including Taste of Polonia in Chicago, The USA Fest in Crete, Illinois and The Illinois State Fair. Nationally, they have entertained at Big Band Weekends, historic Ballrooms, Casinos and Major Hotels including the French Lick Springs Resort in French Lick, Indiana and The Peabody Hotel in Memphis, Tennessee. Every Ron Smolen Orchestra engagement includes waltzes, Latin styles, society numbers, jazz, Dixieland, pop and show tunes. Their inimitable style, is seasoned via their own brand of custom arrangements, and their vast library of original big band era arrangements featuring classic tunes of the Big Band era and popular pieces from the great American song writers. Vocals provided by Ron Smolen and members of the orchestra round out the orchestra's performances to present a total big band experience. Ron Smolen offers trios and combos for smaller venues locally in Chicago. Combos will travel only upon special request.
