About Pleasant Home

Pleasant Home is considered one of the earliest and most distinguished examples of Prairie School Architecture in the nation. The home is open to the public and offers a year-round schedule of educational programs, community events and festivals and cultural performances. Designed by architect George W. Maher in 1897, the home is a perfect setting for corporate or social retreats, meetings, seminars, or receptions. Several smaller rooms are available for break-out sessions, and the expansive, covered front porch can seat up to 80 people banquet style, or 125 people theatre style. Pleasant Home is operated by the Pleasant Home Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the restoration, preservation, and operation of this National Historic Landmark.
