Best Day EVER! - An Eventective User

I had a memorial reception for both my parents in the Heartside Room. It was much larger than I expected and had beautiful natural light coming in. The kitchen had everyrhing we needed and the main room was set up with tables, a podium, and easels. It was 100% perfect. Parking was easy and there was plenty of it. About 16 of us took a tour of the Ellwood House before the memorial began. It was fantastic. So much history and trivia. Seeing pictures of the Ellwood House when it was used by the original owners and how it looks now, shows how much care and detail have gone into making the house as accurate as possible to how it was then. Why doors are where they are, the importance of specific pieces of furniture, and the reasoning for having a dance floor on the highest floor a kichen in the cellar, and a sleeping porch for the children are really interesting parts of the tour. I especially liked the book stamps that the children used to make their books and the communication systems used throughout the house so staff didn't have to run up and down the stairs constantly. There is also a playhouse that is just amazing that is just outside the Hearthside Room. We got to go inside it as part of the tour. The adults enjoyed that part as much as the children in our group. I highly reccomend the Ellwood house as both an incredible museum and a place to have an event.
