Host your outdoor ceremony in the Gazebo, Banyan area, Oak Grove or South Lawn. The rental fee for an outdoor ceremony Monday through Thursday is $950.
Choose from one of these stunning outdoor locations.
Gazebo Enjoy the beautiful views of the Hudson Bayou. Surrounded by lovely vines of queen’s wreath, this intimate nuptial spot is an enchanting place to exchange vows.
Moreton Bay Fig and Banyans The roots of this old, mighty tree are extremely majestic, making it the most photographed location for bridal parties. This area is also very popular for wedding ceremonies.
Oak Grove/Bayside Adjacent to the Mansion Blooming epiphytes (plants that live in trees) reside throughout this outdoor space. Luscious blooming orchids create a unique romantic spot to exchange wedding vows. Larger receptions generally flow out onto the bayfront area for a truly natural setting.
Wedding Ceremony: 1 hour rehearsals, 3 hours for ceremony, pictures and guest departure.
Facility Rental Times and Details: The Gardens’ outdoor facilities and the Mansion are available for private events during hours when the Gardens are closed to the public beginning at 5:00 p.m.
Dressing Rooms: Bookings are confirmed one week prior to wedding due to possible usage by another Gardens event; 2 hours prior to ceremony until 1 hour following ceremony.
Cleanup and Decoration Removal: 1 hour or less after reception or ceremony. All decorations must be removed that evening.
|
Final Payment The balance of the event fee and the security/damage deposit are due 30 days prior to the scheduled event. If the balance due is not received, the Gardens may, without liability and at the discretion of the representative of the Events Department, cancel the event.
Security/Damage Deposit In addition to the agreed upon rental fee and sales tax, a refundable Security/Damage deposit of $300 is required for all private events where food and/or alcoholic beverages are served. Visitor damage to the Gardens’ property and facilities, failure to meet all requirements of the Contracting Guest, additional hours beyond those provided for each type of event or contracted for and/or additional services will be charged against the Security/Damage deposit.
Inclement Weather Issues Cancellation of events or damages to clients due to inclement weather is the responsibility of the client. The Gardens suggest that alternative preparations and plans be made as insurance against cancellation due to inclement weather. The Gardens will cooperate with a brief delay of outdoor events due to rain and will make every effort to provide an indoor location if weather prevents a scheduled outdoor event from taking place. If a client is having both their wedding and reception at the Gardens and the wedding must be moved indoors because of rain, the wedding will be held in the building reserved for the reception. Because the Gardens sometimes host more than one event at a time, a suitable alternate area may not be available in the event of inclement weather. Damages to rental equipment, decorations, etc., due to inclement weather are the responsibilities of the client.
Reservations Reservations will be processed when a signed contract and the appropriate reservation deposit are received and countersigned by a Gardens representative. For wedding ceremonies and receptions, the reservation deposit is 25% of the pre-taxed total. Verbal reservations will be held for ten days to allow a client to submit a credit card number or check. Due to the volume of requests, dates will not be held for more than 10 days. The balance of the event fee is due 30 days prior to the scheduled event.
Cancellation and Reservation Refund Policy The contracting guest may cancel a reservation at any time. All cancellations must be in writing. If a Contracting Guest cancels a reservation more than 16 weeks (112 days) prior to the event, 10% of the base fee will be refunded. If the contracting guest cancels less than 16 weeks prior to the event the entire rental deposit will be forfeited.
Parking The Gardens has parking for approximately 220 vehicles in three paved lots and in the mulched areas east of the Administration lot. Parking is limited and there may be more than one event held at the Gardens concurrently.
Tents To ensure a peaceful, tranquil setting for our guests and to preserve and maintain the Schimmel Wedding Lawn, it is the Gardens’ policy to restrict the use of tents on the South Lawn only to Selby Gardens’ fundraising events.

The Schimmel Wedding Pavilion is an incredible bayfront location for nuptials. As it extends out in the 100-foot Great Lawn, this area has seating capacity of up to 1,000 guests. Sunsets viewed from the Schimmel Pavilion are magnificent, making it our most featured ceremonial site.
Great Room By The Bay Indoor receptions are generally held here. This room may be customized and decorated to accommodate your designs and tastes. The 3,600-square-foot room has 60 feet of glass windows facing west for spectacular bay and sunset views (seating is up to 170 persons for round tables/250 theater style).
The Great Room By The Bay is available from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
The Mansion Both indoor and outdoor receptions are held here. The Mansion accommodates 55 guests for a sit-down dinner or up to 75 for a cocktail reception.
The Mansion is available for private events from 5:00 to 11:30 p.m.
The rental fee for an outdoor ceremony and indoor reception Friday through Sunday is $4,600.
Facility Rental Times and Details: The Gardens’ outdoor facilities and the Mansion are available for private events during hours when the Gardens are closed to the public beginning at 5:00 p.m.

8/2/2011 | | "The Most Beautiful Wedding Venue in Florida!", An Eventective User from Sarasota, FL | Selby Gardens is one of the most breathtaking locations in Sarasota, and in all of Florida! It is a huge property filled to the brim with exotic trees and plants, and even has a butterfly garden. There is also a mansion on location for holding indoor ceremonies and receptions, either by choice, or in case of inclement weather. They are by far one of the most highly rated wedding and special event venues in the area. What makes it even more appealing is that its location is right on the bay, where you will find sailboats floating in the water nearby. It couldn't be more picturesque! Although you're permitted to hold your ceremony anywhere on the property, there are a few I would definitely recommend considering, starting with the massive Bayside Oak tree, the Pavilion, and the Great Lawn!
When you call to speak with a special event coordinator at Selby Botanical Gardens, you couldn't ask for better service or nicer, more considerate people. They are very well informed, and can help you with many aspects of the wedding and the planning process. They even offer catering, for example. Be sure to check with their rules, as they do have a few that might interfere with certain plans… usually minor things like not being permitted to scatter rose petals (at least when I was planning my wedding).
No matter what, you couldn't ask for a more pristine, memorable location for a perfect wedding, especially if you're an out-of-town bride! |
