Opened in October 2002, Cacao Restaurant located in Coral Gables, Florida is the carefully nourished offspring of internationally acclaimed Executive Chef Edgar Leal.  Cacao's cuisine is Contemporary Latin American and is based on classical recipes that have endured, in some cases, for centuries. Chef Leal's recipes are unique interpretations adapted from the cuisines of the Pan Latin region:from the northern reaches of Mexico to the southern most regions of Argentina's Patagonia and from Guyana in the east  to the western coastlines of Chile and Ecuador. Each dish exemplifies the influences, spices and special touches that are prominent in each region. Cacao is one of about  10% of restaurants in the world  to store it’s  wines in a temperature & humidity controlled room built especially to store it’s wine collection.  As unique as Cacao’s glass enclosed wine room is it’s eclectic wine list, by using many wines produced by small vintners Cacao‘s list is fresh and exiting. With wines from all corners of the globe, Cacao offers great wines to compliment the exceptional cuisine. Cacao is 4,200 square feet with a main dining room, bar area, private dining salon, and wine cellar.  A chocolate shop will open shortly adjacent to the restaurant.  The restaurant was designed by Venezuelan Interior Designer Andrés Alibrandi and creates an elegant, romantic and inviting ambiance.
