Beautiful Antique building overlooking the Connecticut River at Deep River Landing. Watch the river go by as well as the Essex Steam Train and Becky Thatcher River Boat. 1 area comfortably seats 65 and has 2 decks. the other spot is an antique warehouse that is over 5000 square feet (rustic with lots of windows!- a great tent alternative.)

 7/27/2011 | | "Unique Event Space", An Eventective User from Cranston, Rhode Island | We were lucky enough to discover The Lace Factory when looking for a unique place to hold our wedding in August. The space is completely customizable, and filled with rustic and industrial charm. Pros: The Lace Factory owner is also a caterer. You can choose to use her company OR you can bring in your own for an additional fee, and the nice thing is, you don't have to work off of a list of approved vendors.
The event coordinator for the day of (Sandy) is a dream to work with. She's accommodating, professional, and puts you at ease.
Unlike other venues, they let you in really early to decorate. There's none of the two hours before rule that you run into with other venues. The day of the wedding, they were willing to let us in at 8am. When we explained to Sandy that that's when hair/makeup was starting for the bridal party, they made the exception for us to come in the night before to decorate.
The space has exposed brick, and iron beams on the ceiling, covered in sparkling white lights, adding a touch of elegance to the space. It's completely surrounded by windows, so it lets in a ton of natural lighting. They have been making improvements little by little to the space, adding a beautiful wood bar, and gorgeous French doors on at the entrance. The space can lend itself to being really modern and chic, or lean towards the more casual.
Cons:
Since the owner also owns a very busy catering business, she's tricky to get a hold of. They also make it challenging to have face-to-face meetings. I found it hard to get things accomplished, especially as I am an out of state bride. Her employees, however, more than make up for her lack of communication.
It may be hard at first to see past all the 'rustic charm' the space has, and envision a more elegant space.
Overall, I’d say the hassle of lack of communication is completely worth dealing with for this really great space. |
